The Jewel of Creation
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
Singapore Expo Hall | 2 May 2010 | Singapore
Public Lecture
with Q & A

As-salaam `alaykum wa rahmatullahi ta`ala wa barakatuhu, I am going to take the advice of the chairman and shorten my speech also.

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. Alhamdulillah.

O Brothers and Sisters! O sisters and brothers, whatever you like. I see more ladies than men! (laughter) But we are happy that (inaudible) is here, I am correct, Zaynul Abideen Rasheed (mayor of Singapore); now I am frightened to make a mistake, careful not to fall into mistakes or misunderstandings. I ask his permission from his honorable self to begin. I don't know, every time Mohammad Naseer comes with a nice event title. He said to speak about, "The Jewel of Creation.” It's a very important title that Allah (swt) likes for the Prophet (s), but can we explain that? Can we describe that jewel? The One to describe is the One who Created, not us normal people! But alhamdulillah, we are asking Allah (swt) to keep us on Islam. We are normal people, how can we describe someone who went on Isra' and Mir`aj? Such titles frighten me because I am nothing, may I be a pebble!

Shaykh Muhammad al-Busayri wrote in the famous poem, Al-Burdah ash-Shareef, "Mantle of Prophet (s)," which many people recite in a melodious way. ... So I think we are pebbles, as Muhammad al-Busayri said out of `ishqlove to Prophet (s) when he was writing his poetry. He was putting his feet in the Nile and reciting, and the river water boiled from the love in his heart and he said:

Muhammadun basharun

wa laysa ka 'l-bashari,

Muhammad is a human

but not a human being like us.

From the time that line was written until today, millions of people have recited and passed through that line. Coming from within him, he experienced the reality of Prophet (s) in front of him, that presence of that Jewel in front of him (and recited):

bal huwa yaaqootatan,

wa 'n-naasu ka 'l-hajari

No, My Lord, he is a jewel

and human beings are like pebbles in comparison.

He experienced his 'self' as a pebble, his egoism and selfishness dissolved, as soon as he felt the presence of the light of Prophet (s). He was not anymore Muhammad Busayri, but a pebble! No ego.

That is why Prophet (s) said to the Sahaaba (r), "If you want to see someone who has died before he died, look at Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r); he has no more has egoism, he dropped it." So that feeling of Muhammad al-Busayri, yes, he could experience the reality of that jewel, of the Prophet (s.) Because (in that state) you understand the comparison of a pebble and a jewel. And what kind of jewel? There are too many kinds of jewels; emeralds, sapphires, rubies, diamonds. If he compared him to a diamond or ruby, or any kind of jewel, he would have made a mistake. Because there is no comparison of an earthly jewel can be made with Prophet (s); he is not that kind of jewel. He is Jewel of Paradise, whom Allah (swt) created and fashioned with His Hands; not physical hands. First Allah (swt) created as mentioned in Musannaf of Abdur Razzaq, the Heavenly Light of Muhammad (s), which can't be compared with anything else. That was his specialty and that is why Allah (swt) raised him, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah, Muhammadun Rasoolullah. Describing His servant who reached maqaam 'l-`uboodiyah wa 'l-`abdiyyah. He said:

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلاً مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الأَقْصَى

Subhaan alladhee 'asraa bi`abdihee laylan min al-masjidi 'l-haraami 'ilaa 'l-masjidi 'l-aqsaa

Glory be to Allah Who took His servant for a Night Journey from the Sacred Mosque to the Furthest Mosque (17:1)

Allah (swt) took His servant through Mi`raj, the ascent through the heavens, to qaaba qawsayni aw adnaa (within two bows' length of the Divine Presence). What kind of human being can move (there)? No one can move! Go to the Himalayas, you die. Try, if you like, no problem. Go to Madinah and you become alive again! Because the light that is emitting from that holy place, the house of Sayyida `Ayesha (r).

O Muslims! How do we describe something we don't know? There are many issues in Islam that we think we know, but we don't. People speak about the Prophet (s) in an easy way, as though they sat with him at the same desk in school. They make presentations, open books, recite about him, describe him. How dare you speak about Sayyidina Muhammad (s) when you don't know him, except through books! The Sahaaba (r) knew the Prophet Muhammad (s) because they were living with him! We are not living. Busayri was living with him, not physically, but through his spirituality. Those who live with spirituality and have the quality of feeling the presence of that light, of course they can understand the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s).

Prophet (s) read, that you were seeing him laughing, maybe smiling, for كثرة الضحك تميت القلب kathratu 'd-dahak tumeetu 'l-qalb, "too much laughter will make your heart dead." Today they are spoiling us with everything, they call it comedy and movies. To make us laugh and make our hearts dead, as Prophet (s) said, "If you knew what I know, you would cry a lot!" Law t`aalamoonaa ma a`alam baqaytum katheera. Why? It is mentioned in the Musnad of Imam Ahmad, in a well-known hadith of Prophet (s):

عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال لجبريل : " ما لي لا أرى ميكائيل ضاحكاً قط ؟ " قال : ما ضحك ميكائيل منذ خلقت النار .

qaal Humayd, qaal Anas ibn Malik, anahu sami`a Sayyidina Muhammad (s) annahu saala Jibreel maa lee laa araa Mikaaeelu dahaq qat? Qaala Jibreelu, ma dahiqa Mika`eelu mundhu khuliqatu 'n-naar.

Anas ibn Malik said that the Prophet (s) said, "One day I asked Jibreel why Mikaaeel was never smiling."  Jibreel (as) answered "Since Hellfire was created, Mikaaeel never smiled or laughed!"

That is what the Jewel of Creation is telling us! O Mu`mins! O Muslims! O Human beings, there is Hellfire is in front of you!  How can you want to smile and laugh? Look into the future, what is going to happen to us? Be careful. What is the benefit of jewels? Today men are wearing earrings. The Jewel of Creation (s) tells you what is halaal and what is haraam. One day you are going to be called and asked. Since Hellfire was created, Mikaaeel has never smiled! He is m`asoom, innocent, an angel, but still he is afraid! Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is telling us. I don't want you to tremble, but be careful, as we are Muslims!

It is good tidings for us to know that the Prophet (s) was sent as Rahmatan li 'l-`Alameen, "Mercy to all the Worlds," who will carry the ummah on his shoulders. And he (s) will plead, “Yaa Rabbee, this is my ummah, free them!” But be good, cry a little bit, try to push your tears a little when reading Holy Qur'an. It is mentioned in al-Mujahid's book, Al-Riqqa wal-Bukaa, that when Adam (a) ate from the tree, committing a sin, the jewels of Paradise dropped down.

In Paradise, there is nothing except jewels, there is no sin there. If you want to be with Prophet (s), then say astaghfirullah immediately if you do a sin!  That is the greatness of the Prophet (s), the Jewel of Creation, who can intercede for anyone because Allah (swt) gave him shafa`ah.

Adam (as) took leaves from the trees of Paradise and covered himself and looked at Hawwa, his wife. Adam (a) was told, "Prepare yourself to leave from this neighborhood of Allah (swt.)" This is the beginning of miseries because he ate from the tree.

Are we doing sins or is no one sinning? Adam (a) disobeyed once, and his wife, Hawwa said, “O Adam! I never thought when someone gives an oath by Allah (swt) that he could be lying!" Iblees did that. She didn't believe that someone would lie in Allah's Name, that is why she believed it. Adam and his wife were running away, feeling very shy from Allah (swt) in Paradise. They hit a tree and were held by it's branches and thought they would be punished there, and they asked, "`Afwak yaa Rabbee, `afwuk yaa Rabbee," they said, astaghfirullah. Don't forget to ask for forgiveness day and night! Adam (s) was saying astaghfirullah and running away, feeling ashamed!

O Muslims! If you really feel ashamed then you can reach the ideal Muslim and the reality of the Jewel of Creation can reach us at that time. Every person, man woman, child, has a goal to achieve in this life. You must have the goal to achieve akhirah and that is to reach the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), because he will intercede for Adam (a) and all of his nation who is under his flag until the the Day of Judgment. When he asks for intercession for his ummah we do not want to feel ashamed. If you make a mistake do you not feel ashamed from your boss? Are we not ashamed from our Creator and His khalifah? Prophet (s) is khalifah for Allah (swt) on Earth, in this universe.

Allah (swt) ordered two angels to punish Adam (a) and his wife by sending them to dunya. Do not think that dunya is a lively place, with discos and movie theaters outside, where you think you are enjoying yourself. In reality it is Hellfire outside. This is Paradise, here! Allah (swt) threw Sayyidina Adam (a) and his wife, down to Earth and they began to cry, crying for a hundred years and tears flowing from their eyes went into the pores of stones! A thirsty eagle searching for water saw that the tears from Adam (a) made a small stream, (we try to show people one tear falling from our eyes.) The eagle saw the stream and drank from the water of Adam's tears. He asked, "What you are doing?" He said,  "Allah (swt) created me two-thousand years before you, I moved from east to west and north to south, I quenched every thirst from every river in this world, and I never found any water sweeter than your tears! These are tears of Paradise!" Adam (s) was crying not only for himself but for the ummah, to show Prophet (s), "Yaa Muhammad (s)! I am doing something for you!"

Sayyidina Adam (a) replied, "Shame on you! What are you saying? Sweetness of tears, from the cheeks of someone disobedient? How can you say these are sweet drops? My tears are the most sour you can find in this world. O Eagle, I think you criticize, to humiliate me!" How much heaviness and shame he was experiencing from his sin. Imam Busayri was experiencing love; feel it within you. If they give you plastic food, would you eat it? No. If not fresh, you don't eat. It means you need something real.

The eagle said, "Yaa Adam, w'Allahi I am not criticizing. What do you think about someone who disobeys his Lord, but he repented?"

Allah (swt) wanted to send a message to Sayyidina Adam (a) through that eagle. He is accepting misery in his heart that he disobeyed and is crying from his sin!

O Muslims! I brought that story up because really if we love someone, we must feel. When Adam (a) disobeyed, he felt his sin. Imam Busayri (r) felt the holy presence and without thinking poetry poured out. Do you think Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is not hearing? He is hearing every moment! Allah (swt) gave him that power; he (s) is fresh, alive in his grave. Allah (swt) sends his soul back to his body to return our salaams, and he is going to take heed on Day of Judgment, and will not leave one member of the ummah behind! This is mentioned in many ahadith.

Prophet (s) said Allah (s) inspired du'as that He never revealed to me before.

He asked Allah (swt), "Forgive my ummah!"

And Allah (swt) said, "Ask and you will be given."

What he is going to ask for? Not a dunya gift. But it's nice on the Day of Judgment to ask (for mercy) and you will be given.

Allah (swt) said to Muhammad (s), “Yaa Habeebi, ask for what you want, tell Me!”

Can anyone speak there, not Sayyidina `Isa (a), Ayna Musa (a), Nuh (a). ... On the Day of Judgment, Allah (swt) will say, “Ask for what you want. What you want, you take,” and the Prophet (s) will answer, “I want the ummah. I don't want only for my benefit:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil ‘akhirati wa hasanatan waqina ‘adhaban-naar.

Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire. (2:201)

One of the realities behind that verse. May Allah (swt) give us Sayyidina Muhammad (s) in akhirah and here! Not with 500 dollars, rather: aatina fi 'd-dunya! Seek love of Prophet (s), to see him! Pray nawaafil (voluntary) prayers. Allah (swt) said in a qudsee hadith:

ومايزال عبدي يتقرب إلي بالنوافل حتى أحبه فإذا أحببته كنت سمعه الذي يسمع به وبصره الذي يبصر به ويده التي يبطش بها ورجله التي يمشي بها

Maa zaala `abdee yataqarraba ilayya bi 'n-nawaafil hatta uhibbah. Fa idhaa ahbabtahu kuntu sama`u 'Lladhee yasma`u bihi wa basarahu 'Lladhee yubsiru bihi, wa yadahu 'Lladhee yubtishu bihi wa rijlahulladhee yabtishu bihaa.

My servant does not cease to approach Me through voluntary worship until I will love him. When I love him, I will become the ears with which he hears, the eyes with which he sees, the hand with which he acts, and the foot with which he steps.

Allah (swt) says to His Beloved, "Ask and you will be given, Yaa Muhammad (s)!"
And Prophet (s)
goes into sajdah and says, “Allah will open for me on my heart du`as I never understood, or heard before, or have been revealed to me,” meaning they are some kind of codes or words that might not be in the Arabic language today.
Then Allah says, “Yaa Muhammad (s), raise your head. Ask, and you will be given!”
That is shafa`ah. Prophet (s) is asking for shafa`ah for his (s) ummah. With an Arabic language, but in a way that these du`as have never been said before.

Prophet (s) will say, “Yaa Rabbee, ummatee. Give me my ummah.”

Allah (swt) will say, “Yaa Muhammad (s), I’m giving you one-third. Take one-third to Paradise.”

Prophet (s) was happy, he (s) saved one-third, with no questioning, no hisaab, with shafa`ata 'n-Nabi (s). He (s) takes them and sends them to Paradise by Allah’s order. In Al-Adab al-Mufrad of Imam Bukhari (q), you can find that hadith. Prophet (s) goes into another sajdah, “And then Allah says to me, ‘Yaa Muhammad, raise your head. Ask, and you will be given.’ Then I will ask another time, Yaa Rabbee, ummatee. I want them, you promised to give me shafa`ah, and I want them.”

Allah (swt) will say, “Take half of the rest. Take one-third more.” Now two-thirds will be in Paradise.

Prophet (s) said, “Then I go in another sajdah and Allah will open for me du`as that He didn’t open for me in the second sajdah, nor in the first. I will ask, ‘Yaa Rabbee, give me my ummah.’ And Allah will say, ‘Raise your head, ask and I will give you.’ And I will say, ‘My ummah.’ Allah will say, ‘Take all of them. They are for you. Except that one, take the rest, leave that one.”

One-third, two-thirds, last third, all except one, who might be worst one! And Allah (swt) looks at that one, that is the one who is a Jewel, who takes us to Paradise, who takes us wherever he (s) goes! Muhammad Rasoolullah (s) is with you every moment; don't make him to be far away! How we say to Muslims, "Muhammad (s) is far." No! Who is better? Shaytan is everywhere, and Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is not everywhere? Prophet (s) is following Allah's order. Let us have common sense! Only common sense is teaching and explaining. We say all of us that Shaytan is everywhere, so how Prophet (s) is not everywhere?

We have a jewel on our chest, salli `ala an-Nabi (s)! Say salawaat, this is enough to reach Prophet (s)! Inshaa-Allah, Allah (swt) will make us see His reality, in dunya before akhirah.

Fatihah.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.

Q & A

Q:
How do we listen to our hearts more than our minds? With certainty in our hearts, can we overcome our inner demons?

MSH: Between hearts and minds is the cause of every problem. Allah (swt) said, وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا Wa nafsin wa maa sawwaaha. "He fixed the self and inspired that self that He fixed for you and honored you with what is good and what is bad." (ash-Shams, 91:7) Everyone has a mind with which to balance decisions. If it feels good, do it, if it feels bad, leave it! Don't say you don't have that. If you are able to see good, goodness varies from one person to another. If listening to ego and selfishness, you will fall into mistakes. The heart is mentioned more than one-hundred times in Holy Qur'an, therefore emphasis is on hearts, not listening only to minds. Shaytan can whisper to minds. How to polish the heart? Leave what is bad. Think, "I want to go to beach today, me and friends. Might be people are not dressed well," then you step on that inspiration and go. We should say, "Since people there are not dressed well, I don't want to be there!" Then you think, "Is there any good movie?” So don't go a movie theater, give that money to poor people instead. Can you stop yourself from going to the movie theatre? That is the problem. To be pious, stop these things and if you are in between, Allah (swt) is merciful.

Q: How do you love Prophet (s) and how can we meet Prophet (s)?

MSH: Do you ask Allah (swt), "How do I love my son or daughter?" Focusing on your son and daughter every moment, are you thinking, what is Prophet (s) doing? Make salawaat on him, then love of Prophet (s) comes.

Q: It is hard to find a leader; how to follow a teacher?

MSH: Put inspiration of Prophet (s) in your heart, that will guide you. Everyone is guided. Especially youth who study fiqh instead of spending time with friends. Give time for Islamic teachings. No one is telling you not to do that. Too much wasting of time now. Allah (swt) will put someone in your heart to guide you. Allah (swt) will guide who He likes. If you look deeply in Qur`an, you will find a guide. Youth has to be reasonable also, must have a conscience and can't just blame older people and not listen to your mother and father, thinking they are old style, not fashionable!

Q: How do I clean my heart? Something stops me from praying, and how do I remove ego?

MSH: Prophet (s) took twenty-three years to remove ego. Every time there is sin, avoid it. Run from anger and make ablution. Anger is like disbelief. The main trunk of bad manners is anger! Don't get angry. Don't argue; it kills the heart. Don't try to argue, as Sayyidina Ali (q) said, keep your mouth closed, zip it completely and don't talk. You don't need to talk. As soon as talk we make mistakes. People see you are not perfect. When you become angry, don't argue; leave and go, because if don't debate you win! May Allah (swt) keep us always.

Q: If we all receive shafa`ah, then what's the point of Hellfire? Don't laugh and say to that person, "You go to Hell, we go to Paradise."

MSH: You don't want shafa`ah? Allahu akbar. Prophet (s) intercedes for his ummah. For the others, Allah (swt) is the best Judge; whom He punishes, whom He forgives. You go where you like, and we go where we like!

Q: Which is the best salawaat to send on Prophet (s)?

MSH: Many, many kinds of salawaat. Chose one you are happier with than others. Keep and don't stop reciting, recite non-stop, no problem, to increase love of Prophet (s) in the heart.

Q: Can you give us baya`? How do I know I am not a munafiq (hypocrite)?

MSH: That is the real thing Allah (swt) wants from you, to say what's in your heart. People are happy with me, and I feel Allah (swt) is not happy with me. Don't exalt self, say to it, "you are the worst!"

Q: It is not fair that bad Muslims enter Paradise from saying, la ilaha illa-Llah...

MSH: Allah (swt) is merciful, best merciful we leave that to Allah (swt). lakum deenukum wa liya deen. "To you be your religion, and to me my religion." (al-Kafirun, 109:6) Leave matters to Allah (swt); He knows better.

Q: On going to the beach, should we travel world, including beaches?

MSH: I didn't understand? See beach? Go to see the world? Why you have to go to the beach? Stay at home and close our eyes. Singapore is surrounded by people who do not conform to our (dressing). Muslims are a minority in Singapore. Balance your private space, my advice to myself and to you. The first look is for you, but the second look is against you. People here are not well dressed. What can you do? The first look is for you, and the second, astaghfirullah! Say, "O Allah, You know better," and ask forgiveness. Make yourself not after that. Don't look at every lady, or every man. Seek beaches for less people or beaches just for ladies. In the Arabian Gulf, you will find people naked on the beaches! Say astaghfirullah, don't think Allah (swt) will not forgive.

Q: Last question. Tell us about baya`?

MSH: That baya` puts love in your heart and mind.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُبَايِعُونَكَ إِنَّمَا يُبَايِعُونَ اللَّهَ يَدُ اللَّهِ فَوْقَ أَيْدِيهِمْ

Inna alladheena yubaaee`oonka innamaa yubaaee`oon'Llah. Yadullaahi fawqa aydeehim.

"Verily, those who give baya` (pledge) to you (O Muhammad) they are giving baya` (pledge) to Allah. The Hand of Allah is over their hands." (Al-Fath 48:10)

Those giving baya` are really giving it to Allah (swt). We hope to fulfill that.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh. Time for Maghrib. May Allah (swt) bless us and forgive us. As-salaamu `alaykum.

Fatihah.

Run to Allah!

Sultan al-Awliya

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani

20 May 2010     Lefke, Cyprus

Dastoor yaa Sayyidee, madad. (Mawlana Shaykh stands.) Laa ilaaha illa-Allah. Laa ilaaha illa-Allah. Laa ilaaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasoolullah `alayhi salaatullah. Thumma as-salaamu `alayka Sayyidi 'l-Awwaleen wa’l-Akhireen. (Mawlana Shaykh sits.) Madad yaa RijaalAllah

As-salaamu `alaykum, O Mankind throughout the east and west, from north to south, everyone on this planet. Welcome to you!! (Mawlana Shaykh laughs.) Be happy that we are in existence. If we were one atom, it would be countless honor for us to have been created. If we are not created there is no honor, nothing for us. Alhamdulillah that we are in existence and the Lord of Heavens just granted us such honor that no other creatures have been granted. No doubt everything takes a grant from their Creator, but Mankind has been granted the most high honor.

And we are asking for your full attention. And we are regarding from our responsible one who is looking after Mankind on Earth. He is responsible for all humanity. He is responsible. As-salaamu `alaykum, O holy one. You have been dressed in holiness by the Lord of Heavens and your holiness has not been given to you by Mankind. Whoever is given the title "Holiness" by Mankind, it has no value. Holiness is a heavenly grant. If He dresses a person, then that is a real holy one, not like our imitated titles, which give a person this and that.

And we are saying, a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani 'r-rajeem. Every badness, every trouble, every misery, and every suffering is on behalf of Shaytan and its generation. He has a generation?

O Salafi `ulamas, marhaban! What do you think? Does Shaytan have a generation or not? Yes, he has! Daily, as often as a newborn is coming, Shaytan is bringing forth its generation. No, if there are five-billion people now, there must be five-billion shaytans or more! He is calling to fire because Shaytan is created from fire and asking Mankind to come with him to fire, asking to make Mankind also a creation from fire. And people are running after Shaytan and asking from Shaytan's generation, thinking Shaytan is granting to them such a valuable thing. All technology is one spot of fire from Shaytan open to Mankind and from that fire they are making every kind of technology dependent on it. One spark is enough; that one spark will burn everything on Earth! But that one spark is under control, or Shaytan will burn all people in its fire.

A`jaa'ib, that is a very surprising thing, amazing. Shaytan may burn but it is given only one spark. Two sparks may burn everything for Mankind, but Shaytan is under control and Man is under heavenly protection. Some of them are asking to run out from under that protection, and fire is running on them. Therefore, now people are running to that shaytanic spark to take more power from it, but it is just the last limit given to those heedless people, and no more is going to be given. One spark is burning everything! But there is itfa'iyaat, “fire extinguisher,” fire department control, but that is nothing. There are responsible ones under the command of the responsible holy one on this Earth. They can't do more than this or everything is going to be burned and finished. Everything you can touch is burning. SubhaanAllah!

O People! As-salaamu `alaykum. Welcome to you, our attenders! I am the weakest one for protecting people, not to be mentioned, yes. So many ones are after that holy one's order, looking, looking, and also throwing arrows on them, arrows created from fire. Angels are sending on them from material arrows, touching them and making them useless, but Shaytan is quickly bringing other ones to destroy Mankind. First, physically asking to destroy them, and secondly, Shaytan is asking to destroy their honor. Are you saying such things to your people, Azhari `ulamas, to warn them or not? I never hear you. You must make clear some things that protect Muslims, and others also.

Yes, Shaytan is always running to destroy Mankind with its fires, yet there are some protectors under the command of that authorized one on Earth: anywhere that fire appears, they run to it.

وَمَكَرُواْ وَمَكَرَ اللّهُ وَاللّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ

wa makaroo wa makarullahu w' Allahu khayru 'l-maakireena,

They (unbelievers) planned evil and Allah also planned, and He is the best of planners. (3:54)

Shaytan and its generation are always making a trick, and countless tricks are sent on Mankind. You are not using nuclear bombs and such things, no, but they are sending such things on Man to destroy their real beings and real honor. Shaytan's goal is to take away Mankind's honor. (Mawlana Shaykh stands.) But Allah (swt) says, wa makaroo wa makara Allahu! (Mawlana Shaykh sits.) They never rest in their efforts to do something against Mankind, particularly against their humanity, as that gives Mankind honor. Shaytans are taking their aim on Mankind, physically and spiritually, using so many tricks that if you save yourself from one, you are caught by another one! But He Who creates Mankind and honors them, He Who makes deputies and cares for His most honored creatures, Mankind, Allahu khayru 'l-maakireena. Shaytan is doing his worst to destroy Mankind. Shaytan's tricks are never-ending, beginning with Adam and Eve in Paradise, using tricks to throw them out. And it followed them, when they landed on Earth and Shaytan threw itself on Earth after them!

When Allah Almighty created Adam (a), he was lying down as Allah Almighty's rooh, the secret power and secret honor, had not yet been given to Adam. He was like a statue. Shaytan  looked at that newly-created form. He knocked like this (Mawlana knocks on shelf). He said, "It is not solid, it's empty!" Then he entered through the mouth of Adam (a) looking and turning everywhere and getting out. He said, "It is a new Creation, but it is empty, empty! It doesn't matter. If it is not solid, it is easier for me to take control of that new Creation." Therefore, Shaytan first said, "This is an empty one. I can control that new Creation."

Everyone, from their chest down is open. That means Shaytan has been given an authority to go around our bodies, running everywhere. And he said, "It doesn't matter, I can control it because it is an empty one." Therefore, wa makaroo, “They plan deceit.” Shaytan and its generation are always running against Man, from up to down. They are taking control of a new generation of Mankind from up and down. Shaytan is preparing countless tricks and traps to catch Mankind on his hook and carry them, but the Lord of Heavens says, "Wa makaroo!"

They are using countless hooks to take Mankind with them. They are created from fire, and this human form is created from four elements, they are carrying them to fire. But the Lord of Heavens says, Wa makaroo wa makarullah,  "They deceived and Allah (swt) deceived them." They may do this, but Allah Almighty never leaves Mankind in their hands, no! For every trick Shaytan uses, there comes heavenly protection stopping it. They are asking to trip you, but heavenly protection intervenes in their trips, and a heavenly defense comes, closing them.

Man is now coming under shaytanic trips. Shaytan is running from east to west, from north to south and he is so happy and proud that, "Just I am on Mankind, they are under my control." For all Mankind he may use so many of its followers and soldiers, Shaytan's soldiers. And for Man also, they are more powerful, but there are followers of Shaytan among them just sent against Mankind from Mankind. They are using countless followers to make Mankind under their control. But the Lord of Heavens says, "I am closing every one of Shaytan's trips, I am bringing a barrier in front of it and closing them." He says, Allahu khayrun haafidhun, "Allah is the Best Protector." He protects Mankind as He likes. Therefore, Shaytan is very careful and his hope is, "I aim to take one hundred percent of Mankind under my flag and take them to fire. I am of fire, to me it doesn't matter but when they come with me I put them into hells, into suffering."

One philosopher was making an argument saying that, "Fire gives no harm to fire." And a second one is saying, "Look, Man has been created from Earth, but Earth gives them trouble, and suffering." Shaytan says, "We are from fire, therefore we do not worry about fire, it can't cause us any suffering." That one philosopher said, "Therefore, we too will never be punished from the Earth." The second one took a stone and hit himself on the head, and said, "O my head! If your head suffers, Shaytan will also take the worst punishment, suffering; they will suffer from fire."

What we say now is to make our `ulamas say, "People! O people, beware of Shaytan! Shaytan is running after you, take care!" People say, "To where may we run from Shaytan's tricks and traps?" Allah Almighty says, (Mawlana Shaykh stands.) فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ  fa firru ila Allah, "Run to Allah!" (51:50) (Mawlana Shaykh sits.) O people, run to Allah! You will be saved here and Hereafter!

Why you are not saying such things? Holy ones from the Jewish people, holy ones of Christianity, why are you not saying that they should run to Allah? But I am sorry to say even Muslims are running after western people, hoping to be saved by western people, with western ways, running to western countries to be saved. They are wrong! Every one of the Muslim territories is trying to be a western state. This is one hundred per cent wrong. O `ulamas, why are you not saying this? You must warn people. Why are you running to western countries hoping to find a restful, happy life, a "high life?"  Don't run to them.

Allah says, "O creatures, run to Me!" Prophet says, "Run to Allah!" Where will we find Allah? Run to His Holy Book, Qur’an adheem ash-Shaan, the Holy Sacred Qur’an, there you are going to find the ways to run to Allah. If you are not doing this, you will never be saved here and Hereafter. Because Shaytan’s hegemony covers you and you will not be taken to your Lord's Divine Presence. May Allah forgive us.

Fatihah.

(43 minutes.) Okay.

We are happy with you, our attenders, and we will break down shaytanic chains and make Shaytan and its workers to run away and never come back. We are bombarding them!

He said, "It is not solid, it's empty!" The Story of Ibraheem ibn Adham
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
3 November 2009     Bali, Indonesia

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem.
Nawaytu ‘l-arba`een, nawaytu ‘l-`itikaaf, nawaytu ‘l-khalwah, nawaytu ‘l-`uzlah,
nawaytu ‘r-riyaadah, nawaytu ‘s-sulook, lillahi ta`ala fee haadha ‘l-masjid.

Ati`ullaha wa ati`u ‘r-Rasoola wa ooli ‘l-amri minkum.
Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you.
(4:59)

Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasooluh.

Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasooluh.

Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasooluh.

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar!

Allah said in Holy Qur’an, Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem. ati`ullaha wa ati`u ‘r-Rasoola wa ooli ‘l-amri minkum, obey Allah, obey the Prophet and obey those who are on authority.

Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillahi ‘l ladhee hadaana ‘l-Islami wa ma kunna li nahtadi law la an hadaana ‘ Llah. Alhamdulillah al-ladhee arsala rasoola bil huda bi deeni ‘l-haqq li yuzhirhum deeni kulli wa kafa billahi wakeela wa shaheeda!

Allah (swt) sent His messenger Sayyidina Muhammad (s) with Islam because Islam is wrapping all religions. From the beginning of Sayyidina Adam (a) to Sayyidina Muhammad (s), all heavenly religions were wrapped and brought under Islam because Allah said:

إِنَّ الدِّينَ عِندَ اللّهِ الإِسْلاَمُ

Inna deena `ind Allahi ‘l-Islam.

The Religion before Allah is Islam. (3:19)

I am coming all the way from the west that you can reach, from California, coming here from Far West to the Far East. From the Far West to the Far East, Islam is very well known and established. From California to New York, Islam is mashaa-Allah always going higher and higher. From New York to Europe, England, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Copenhagen, Norway, all through Russia, Central Asia, Asia, India, Pakistan, all the way to Turkey, Thailand, Korea, wherever, Japan, all the way to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia—you don’t find a house that doesn’t know about Islam! The Prophet (s) said, “In the Last Days, Islam will enter every tent, dakhala’l-islam kulli wabar wa madar, which means Islam will enter every city, civilization and all kinds of remote areas that no one knows in deserts or jungles. Now if you go into any jungle or desert or civilization, or any city, people know about Islam.

Who did that? Us? No. It’s Allah (swt) Who sent that mercy, that barakah through Sayyid ‘ur-Rasul, Sayyidina Muhammad (s) to take that message all that way because, He says:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ

wa maa arsalnaaka illa rahmatali 'l-`alameen,

We sent you except as a Mercy for humanity. (21:107)

That mercy has to reach everyone; no one is excluded because Allah (swt) says, “We have sent you as a mercy for humanity,” He did not say (individually) for this one or that one. He said for all humanity. It means that rahmah, that mercy, has to reach everyone in his heart; if he knows about it or not, that is something else.

Hidayah min Allah, “Guidance is from Allah.” To make someone know His Way is from Allah (swt). Allah doesn’t accept anyone that does not let anyone know His Way. He gave to the heart of every human being an indication of how he is going to live his life and that is why Allah (swt) has given that mercy to everyone’s heart. That is why Prophet Muhammad (s) said in a hadith, yulidu ‘l-insaanu ila ‘l fitra, “People are born on innocence.” That is why children are innocent; they don’t know anything bad,  they are pure. So human beings are born on innocence. Allah (swt) wants everyone to have some of that rahmah that He put in the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad (s).

Look they (jinns) are coming here, unseen ones between the trees. They are listening, taking lessons like we take lessons. These spiritual beings are always wherever there are people on haqq or wherever they see evil power, they come to take the evil power and throw it away and bring rahmah. That rahmah is coming. And one of them, a wali, just appeared. He said, “Tell them my story, it will benefit them,” because this will show how much Allah (swt) created everyone with His love.

There will be a certain moment in their life that he will remember that light that has been in his heart and he will come back to his rushud, his responsibility to be a servant of Allah (swt). He has to think about his life, his work and his future. Dunya is not going to live forever; everyone is going to leave dunya one day. So in dunya there are not only pleasures; there are also responsibilities, to work and to pray. You have to work for dunya and work for akhira. It’s not only working for dunya or working only for pleasure. That light will come to the heart and say, “Enough My servant, enough what you are doing. Come back to normal life, the life of responsibilities.”

That wali is Ibraheem ibn Adham (r), very famous in Sham, Damascus. He is buried outside Sham. He was not an employee, a businessman, and not a normal person. He was a king, but unfortunately, not all kings but many kings, princes and princesses, think they are above everyone. They indulge in all kinds of dirty things, pleasures, and bad desires. Similarly, many people imitate that same lifestyle; they see the king and his children are doing that so they do it, also. That king was of such caliber, from the beginning of his life he was always drunk and womanizing.

He built for himself a tower in his palace. I just remembered now when I said ‘tower,’ I remembered the hadith of the Prophet (s), to build houses one story high and up to three stories high (levels). He (s) never gave permission to build high-rises; he said they are from Shaytan. You don’t want the very high tower of Nimrood; he went up and shot his bow and arrow and said, “I am shooting Allah, the Lord of Sayyidina Ibraheem.” Hasha, astaghfirullah! He shot and hit an eagle and the blood came on his arrow and it fell, and he said, “I killed Allah (swt).” Hasha. So for those who build high-rises, it is not acceptable because the Prophet (s) did not allow that. They were telling me here today that in Bali they don’t build higher than a cocoanut tree. SubhaanAllah. These people are not Muslim but it is thrown in their heart not to go higher than a coconut tree, ten to fifteen meters, it means 3-4 levels, not higher. When you go higher you are coming against what the Prophet (s) said, “No higher than three stories.” So that sultan had a tower, not more than the height of a coconut tree, and on top of that tower he had a bed where he slept looking at the stars at night.

Every night he got drunk, every night with one woman, two women, three women, Allah knows, sleeping with him in that tower, like too many people today. But when Allah’s hidayah comes, nothing stops it. When Allah (swt) wants to guide someone, he brings back that light in their heart and shows him the direct way. Every night Ibraheem ibn Adham had the same routine, that became habitual. What has passed; all this pleasure that he made to himself. Let’s say, all my life was in pleasure but this moment it finished. You don’t feel that anymore. It means when you die you don’t take that pleasure with you; it is gone. You need pleasures for akhira; you need to prepare something for akhira not just for dunya. You need another tower for akhira. If you don’t do it now, when are you going to do it? So wake up, O Muslims, wake up! One day you are going to leave this dunya and you don’t know when. Look at Aristotle Onassis, the richest man in the world. He built his wealth to give to his son, who in front of him, crashed in his helicopter and died!

Ibraheem everyday repeated the same thing and one day he was sleeping and look what happened. He was drunk, counting the stars, 1, 2, 3… then he slept. Then another time 1, 2, 3… then he slept. Then he asked one lady, “Tell me, how many stars?” She said, “I don’t know how many. I am more drunk than you.” This is the life of youngsters today, even if they are married they are like that. This is their example. What is going to benefit them? Nothing. After a while it’s finished. Listen carefully. So, when he was counting, not counting well in this situation, he heard someone walking on the roof. He looked; he was not seeing anyone. He washed his face. He looked and he is hearing but not seeing anyone. Suddenly he saw a man.

He said, “What are you doing here? You don’t know I am the king? How do you dare to come on my roof?!”

That man looked said, “O Ibraheem,” he didn’t say to him ‘Raja,’ he said to him directly, “O Ibraheem.”

The king was shocked and thought, “Who can dare say to me Ibraheem,’ without saying ‘Raja, King Ibraheem?’”

For Allah (swt) no one is king except Him. There are people who make themselves kings.

He looked and said, “Yaa Ibraheem, I am looking for my camel on your roof.”

“O you stupid! How can you find your camel on my roof?”

Then he woke up, no more drunk, because that light began to work in his heart now.

“How you are going to find the camel on my roof, go look in the garden.” He loosened up because when he said, “Go look in the garden,” it means “I am accepting you, so go look in the garden, don’t look on the roof; you may find the camel in the garden.” The camel might slip before he reaches up and break his neck. So when hidayah comes to a king, queen, or normal person, everything before is finished and Allah will forgive by istaghfaar (if you ask forgiveness).

Qul yaa ibaadiy alladheena asrafoo `alaa anfusihim laa taqnatoo min rahmatillaahi innallaha yaghfiru 'dh-dhunooba jamee`an innahu huwa ‘l- Ghafoorur ‘r-Raheem.

Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against their souls, despair not of the mercy of Allah. Allah forgives all sins, for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (39:53)

Yaa Muhammad (s), allahumma
salli `ala Rasoolullah, yaa rahmatu ‘l-li ‘l-alameen, as-salaatu w 'as-salaamu `alayka yaa Rasoolullah, as-salaatu w 'as-salaamu `alayka yaa Habeebullah, as-salaatu was-salaamu `alayka yaa Shafee`-i'l Mudhnibeen, as-salaatu w 'as-salaamu `alayka yaa Maahi, as-salaatu w 'as-salaamu `alayka yaa Taahir, as-salaatu w 'as-salaamu `alayka yaa Rasoolu ‘l-malaahim, allahumma salli `ala 'n-Nabiyy, sallooalayh. (All recite.)

“O Believer, O My Servant, don’t lose hope of Allah’s mercy.” Allah will forgive anyone who repents; but repent! Say astaghfirullah! Astaghfirullah! Astaghfirullah! (All repeat.) Astaghfirullah, astaghfirullahi ‘l-azheem alladhee la ilaaha illa huwa ‘l-hayyu ‘l-qayyoom wa atoobu ‘ilayh. You think that Allah will not forgive when you are calling in one voice, “Yaa Rabbee, forgive us”? Would He say, “No?” He will say, “I will forgive those who come back and ask Me for forgiveness. I will forgive them.” Because we are weak servants. Allah created us and Iblees running on our heads! Like someone in a room with a lion, what will you do? Either you fight the lion and he is going to win on you one day or one day you win on him. So when we are weak we say, “Yaa Rabbee, You are the One Who forgives. You are the Most Powerful One. You created us weak, please forgive us.” Allah will forgive them. Allah will not say, “No.” Id`oonee astajib lakum, “Ask Me, I will answer you.” So if we say, “Yaa Rabbee, astaghfiruka wa ‘atooboo ilayh,” will He say “No, I am not accepting”? One of Allah’s Beautiful Names is “al-Kareem”, the Most Generous. He is Generous in everything and He is Generous in forgiveness!

So that man said, “I am looking for my lost camel.”

“Go to the garden! why are you looking on the roof?”

“No Ibraheem, you are wrong. I was riding it and I lost it here.”

Ibraheem is looking at him strangely, something cannot go in the mind. Correct? Can he find his camel on the tower? Impossible.

Yaa Ibraheem, it is probable that I might find my camel on your tower, it might be. Allah (swt) may make it easy that I find my camel on this tower, or even on the glass and not one glass is broken. So why did you build this tower? To look at the stars? What benefit are the stars? You are riding a woman and you want to look at the stars?”

This is what he was doing? People are lost today. They need hidayah but they have to ask Allah for it. We are doing the same as Ibraheem ibn Adham was doing. But Ibraheem ibn Adham found someone to wake him up. Allah (swt) knows who that person coming to him was.

He said, “Yaa Ibraheem, there is a probability for me to find my camel here on your roof, but there is no probability ever for you to find Allah (swt) in this situation!”

It was like an arrow to Ibraheem ibn Adham’s heart. He woke up, saying, “What am I doing? I am going to die one day and come to Allah (swt) with this situation?” Immediately he left everything, took a shower and prepared himself for worship, `ibadah. When you go to a hotel and want to wake up early you request a “wake-up call”, and that was a wake-up call for Ibraheem ibn Adham. Every human has a wake-up call in their heart because Allah (swt) created us innocent.

As Sayyidina Muhammad (s) said, y’ulidu al insaanu `ala ‘l-fitra fa imma abbawaahu yuhawwidaanihi aw yunasaraanihi aw yumajjisaanih, “People are born on innocence (in Islam). Either his parents make him Jewish or Christian or Zoroastrian.” He didn’t say, “His parents make him Muslim,” because he is born Muslim. It means at birth all human beings receive in their hearts that light of guidance, that Islam, from Allah (swt). The light of Islam is there, but when they follow another way of religion they will lose that light. Like a pilot light in a boiler; it is always on and when the temperature comes down it will give a wake-up call and the boiler will start. That pilot light is still in everyone’s heart. One day it  wake up the boiler, the heart, and send this message to the whole system, “Where am I going in my life?”

Allah (swt) says in the Holy Qur’an, “One leg in dunya, one leg in akhira.” Sayyidina `Ali (q) said, `Amal li-dunyaaka ka-annaka ta`aeeshoo abadan wa `amal li- akhiratika ka-annaka tamootu ghadan, “Do for your dunya as if you are living forever and do for your akhira as if you are dying tomorrow.”

So what we really need is like what we have here, a majlisu 'dh-dhikr, a gathering, an association of remembrance of Allah (swt) and the remembrance of His Prophet, Sayyidina Muhammad (s). What benefit do we get from such a place? I never expected to come to Bali one day and meet hundreds of people from the Far West to the Far East, but Allah (swt) made it happen because of our host, brother of Shaykh Mahmood, Shaykh Akbar Khan; he made it possible. Sacha’s father made it possible in this place where we are sitting and saying, “This is like Paradise.” Papa Sacha! This also indicates the love of Allah (swt) and the Prophet (s) in the heart of the owner of this house. Why he has to open this house? If there is no love for Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s), he will not spend all this money to have such an event, but that is the real guidance. You can say Akbar Khan is a guided man because Allah (swt) guided him. Allah (swt) gave him from dunya and He will give him in akhira.

I will quote a hadith of the Prophet (s) from Bukhari and Muslim describing such things. Is this Paradise? Does this look like Paradise, ask them? Na`am. But what kind of paradise? This is not even (dips finger in water) a drop compared to the Paradise in Heaven. Not even an atom of resemblance of Paradise that Allah (swt) gives to a Muslim in Heaven. That’s why when you do for your dunya Allah (swt) gives you, but if you do for your akhira, Allah gives you far more and better. You don’t want to find a camel on your roof; you want to find Allah (swt) because He will give you more than a camel. The whole universe becomes a paradise! There is no resemblance, but in dunya Allah (swt) gave to whom He wants, and people are opening their homes to us as Muslims to come and enjoy these majaalis adh-dhikr. Allah (swt) will give them in akhira, and the owner of this house, more and better than this house and all the houses in dunya, Allah (swt) will give a simple human being better in the Day of Judgment and then in akhira.

This is a majlis adh-dhikr, what it is called, inna majaalis adh-dhikri majaalisu ‘l-mala`ika. So in a majlis of dhikr like this majlis, whoever is here, you will see later when hadith continues, even someone who has nothing to do with us, who is not coming for praying or just coming to see someone because he needs something, Allah will forgive him and he will become part of it. This is the majlis. Now, this house is full of angels. They have to come, they have been ordered, and not because of you or me or them. They are ordered to look for such majaalis; they come and encircle all this group, encompass them, circles above circles, above circles, ascending beyond this universe to Paradise. They have to reach the First Heaven.

The Prophet (s) said, `an Abi Hurayra qaala, qaala Rasullulahi (s): inna li-Llahi mala`ikatun yatufoona fi't-turooqaat yaltamisoona ahla’dh-dhikr, “Allah has angels that encircle roads looking to find associations of  dhikr like this where people are sitting and remembering Allah (swt).”

People might say, “How do those angels go around?” Prophet (s) is saying, yaltamisoona ahl adh-dhikr, yatufoona fi't-turooqaat “They roam from one street to another, navigating.” You know GPS? If we have GPS, angels don’t have it? They have and they can navigate everywhere. Their GPS can see that light coming from this majlis and immediately they come. They navigate in between. All angels have different ways. They don’t come in a lump sum, they are navigating.

Someone may say, “How can that be?” You have a telephone? See this telephone? Now he goes to Malaysia. What happens? It roams. Coming from Malaysia here (Bali, Indonesia), so now? This machine can find you; they know where you are. Go to America, they know where you are. We call it “roaming”. So Sayyidina Muhammad (s) said 1400 years ago, “There are angels roaming.” They know where you are. Now technology came up with something that can indicate where you are. They know Sacha is sitting here and Mahmood Khan is sitting here. Through high-definition satellite they have pictures; now they can see him, where he is sitting and how far from you he is sitting. They can indicate everyone, how far from each other. Every spot they can spot on Earth.

You think angels cannot do that? Sayyidina Muhammad (s) said it 1400 years ago, that Allah (swt) has angels who roam the streets and they look for such associations and when they find them, they sit with them. Now they are sitting with you. You cannot see them but they are sitting with you. The Prophet (s) said, fa ‘idha wajadu qawman yadhkuroon Allah ta`ala tanaadaw hallummu ‘ila hajatikum, “When they see a group of people sitting, they sit with them and they say, ‘We are coming to give you what you need, what you want. Ask us and we’ll present it.’”

So ask Allah (swt) for anything now and Allah (swt) is watching now! I am going to continue this hadith and you will understand why. You can ask, Allah (swt) will give. First you may ask, “Yaa Rabbee give me, khayran ad-dunya
wa ‘l-akhira, the best of this dunya and the best of akhira.” Then ask for shifa`a and toolu ‘l umr, “Cure from every disease and a long life.”

So it’s nice, it’s good and we have to be happy that someone asked us to come to his house and hosted this meeting. It is good for the owner of this house and all here, and on top of that Allah (swt) is rewarding. The Prophet said, yahufunahum bi ajnihatihim il as-samaa ad-dunya, “They come and with their wings they are rubbing you.” They sit with you and are touching you and they go in circles all the way up to sama`a ad-dunya, First Heaven. Millions and billions of them and go to the First Heaven, which means beyond the universe.

Sacha, you know our galaxy is comprised of 80-billion stars. They have found more than 6000 galaxies. Every galaxy is another 80-billion stars. There are stars 2-billion light years away so that means how far does the universe go. All theses angels go beyond to the First Heaven. They are around us, and how many, and what do the angels do? They make dhikrullah. So those angels, sitting with you tonight go all the way up to Paradise. It is written for all of you.

And then the Prophet (s) said, qaal fa yas’aluhum Rabbuhum wa huwa `alamu bihim ma yaqooloon ‘ibaadee and Allah will ask them, “What are My servants saying?” What are we saying now? Allah will ask the angels. So we must have a good dhikr association, in order that they say good and not, “Yaa Rabbee, Your servants are in discos, or with this one or that one.” It is better to say, “Yaa Rabbee, Your servants are remembering You.” The Prophet said, qaal, yusabbihunaka yukabbirunaka yuhmmidunak, “They are glorifying You, saying takbeer for You, and they are praising You.” This is what we are doing now.

And Allah asks the angels, fayaqool, ha ‘r-raawnee, “Did they see Me?” And the angels will say, “Yaa Rabbee, they didn’t see You.” And Allah will say, fa yaqool kayfa law raawn, “What will happen if they see Me?” Qaal, fayaqooloon law raawnaka kanoo ashadda laka `ibaadatan wa ashadda laka tamheedan wa tamjeedan wa akthar laka tasbeehan, “If they would have seen You, yaa Rabbee, they would have made more ‘ibadah day and night, glorifying You and praising You. They would never stop even for one moment, except saying, ‘Yaa Allah, Yaa Allah, Yaa Allah, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar!’”

Qaal, fa yaqool ma yas’aloonee, “What are they asking Me? What do they want?” I’m asking now ourselves, what do we want from Allah (swt)? What do you want? And they said, “Yaa Rabbee, yas’aloonakaa ‘l-Jannah, they want Your Paradise.” It means they want Your happiness, they want Your satisfaction with them, they want You to forgive them. Yasaloonaka ‘l-Jannah, look, two words but they have a big meaning. This is the eloquence of the Prophet (s). “They want your Paradise,” that means every `ibaadah comes out of Paradise. Allah (swt) says, wa ‘r-raawha, “Did they see My Paradise? They are asking Me for Paradise, did they see My Paradise?” They said, yaqooloon, laa wallahi Yaa Rabb, “Not really, yaa Rabb, they didn’t see it.” Allah says, fayaqool fakayfa lawannahum raawha, “How are they going to be if they were to see it?” They said, yaqooloon law  annahum raawha  kanoo ashshadda `alayha  hirsan wa ashshada laha talaban wa `azhama feeha raghaba, “If they had seen it, they would have asked You more aggressively, in the best manner possible, they would have requested You, begged You to give that Paradise for them.”

Then Allah (swt) continues asking,  fa mimma yataawwazoon? “From what are they seeking refuge, of what are they afraid?” They said, “They are afraid, yaa Rabbee, from Your Hellfire. They don’t want to be burned in Your Hellfire, they don’t want to be punished.” That is why they are coming together, sitting together, making dhikrullah, eating food together, making haseelatu ‘r-rahmee, the relationship. He said, “Did they see My Hellfire?” Fa yaqooloon, laa wallahi yaa Rabb ma raawha, “No they didn’t see it.” Allah said, fa kayfa la raawha, “What would happen if they were to see My Hellfire?” Fa la raawha kanoo ashadda minha firraaran wa ashaddu laha makhaafatan. “They would be running away, they would stop doing everything haraam. They would not do anything that You don’t accept.” Because if they were to see it, they would know there is no way to run away but to enter it and get punishment, if they are living their life as they are living.

Now comes the answer from Allah (swt). What do you think Allah (swt) said according to the hadith of Prophet (s)? Did they see You? No, they didn’t see You. Did they see My Paradise? No they didn’t see. Did they see My Hellfire? No they didn’t see it. If they saw Me they would be praying more. If they saw My Paradise they would have asked more. If they saw my Hellfire, they would run away. Are we something like that here in this meeting now? In this dhikr majlis, this association, we are coming for something like that, for asking Allah (swt) to see His Paradise, asking to see Him, asking to run away from His Hellfire, asking Him to forgive us. Is it not? So what Allah (swt) will say, qaal yaqoolullah fa ashhadukum annee qad ghafartulahum, that, “You witness, O My angels, I have forgiven them. No sin on them, I forgave them completely.” This is what will happen. That is why you should come for such gatherings, everyday you should come. I am sure that everyone would like to host a gathering so that they may come into their house and turn it into a paradise by doing that majlis adh-dhikr.

From all the billions of angels, one says, “Yaa Rabbee, this is one who is not from these ones,” fa yaqoolu malaku min al-malaaikatu feehim fulaan laysa minhum, “There is someone who is not from amongst them,” inna ata li-haajah, “But he came because he needed something from someone.” For instance he needed a telephone or money and then he went. He was not with them but he came and sat in the association. So what would happen to that one? Allah (swt) will say, humu 'l-julasaa laa yashqa bihim jaleesahum, it means, “They are a group of people and if anyone comes even not from them, I will forgive them.” So, such a gathering is a blessed gathering and it will take away all sins that went before by Allah’s rahmah. The mercy that He sent to us through His Prophet, Sayyidina Muhammad (s) will take all the sins as according to the hadith. So we must always keep hope that at any moment we have done something wrong, we repent immediately after it, saying, yaa Rabbee, astaghfirullah, “O my Lord, I repent!” Pray two rakaats and ask for forgiveness. Allah (swt) will forgive.

O Muslims, don’t lose hope from Allah’s forgiveness but come to Him. There is a hadith of the Prophet (s) that Allah (swt) said, “If My servant approaches me by one hand, I approach him by one arm, and if he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.” Come to Allah (swt) walking, slowly, no problem. Like a child, one-year-old, walk and fall, walk and fall. No problem, keep walking and falling. When you fall you repent. But slowly open your mind. One day you are going to be like Ibraheem ibn Adham. We hope that Allah (swt) opens our hearts and guides us to leave those bad desires and look only for good desires.

For every Muslim, Allah gave a balanced day: eight hours for sleep, eight hours for work and eight hours for his family, worshipping, because spending time with family is like worshipping. So eight hours sleeping, not disco all the night; you come fajr time drunk already, you don’t pray, you don’t do anything. Eight hours work; don’t be lazy. Shaytan is teaching us to be lazy. One day you wake up, already you are 70-years-old and you don’t see anything except laziness in your face. Allah (swt) is going to question you; “I gave you 24 hours: 8 hours to work, 8 hours to worship, and 8 hours to sleep. Did you balance your system with that or not?”

May Allah (swt) accept from us this majlis and bless us with the blessing with which He blessed His Prophet (s), and make us good servants for Him and make our parents to be happy with us, our children to be happy with us, and that we will be good people in the community and society.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
