Who Makes Fitna Is Cursed by Allah and Must Repent
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
26 December 2010 Singapore
Private Residence

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,
nawaytu 'r-riyaadah, nawaytu 's-sulookay, lillahi ta`ala fee haadha 'l-masjid.
Ati`ullaha wa ati`u 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (4:59)

We have to obey the leaders of a country, and if they are on the right way we have to follow the leaders of religion. Most importantly, we have to follow the guidance of our shuyukh, because Allah (swt) granted them by saying in Holy Qur'an: Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

أَلا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاء اللّهِ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

alaa inna awliyaaullahi laa khawfan `alayhim wa laa hum yahzanoon.

Behold! Verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve. (al-Yunus, 10:62)

The Prophet (s) said:

as-haabee kan-nujoom bi ayyihim aqtadaytum ahtadaytum.

My Companions are like the stars, whichever one you follow you will be guided.

Stars only appear at night. The Prophet (s) also said:

The scholars of my nation (who practice what they teach) are like the prophets of Bani Isra`il.

Prophet (s) gave them very high respect, since they deliver the Prophet's message, when he said, as-habee kan-nujoom, "My Companions are like the stars." And we said you cannot see stars except at night. Which night? Singapore's night, Europe's night, America's night, Australia's night? Which night? This means there are nights that appear consecutively around the world because of subsequent time zones, so as time is moving, night and day are moving. Night becomes day and day becomes night. That means there are awliyaullah in different parts of the world that can guide from the guidance of the Sahaabah (r) and from the guidance of the Prophet (s). They are not guides because of studies they achieved, but from a grant from Allah (swt); He gave them that ability.

As we said yesterday, who dives in the oceans of knowledge in the heart of Sultan al-Awliya take from these treasures, and Sultan al-Awliya gives to everyone. Therefore, masters and leaders cannot lead anyone astray. Anyone who says that puts himself into a state of kufr, because he has accused his masters and leaders of leading him astray. That is directly attacking and accusing his shuyukh, and the shaykh on top of all these shuyukh is the Grandmaster. So anyone from whose mouth comes such words has to repent, or la`anatullah, the curse of Allah (swt) will be on him, because he is putting doubts in the hearts of people, just as Iblees put doubts in the heart of Adam (a) to eat from the Forbidden Tree. Those who are saying these words and putting doubts in the hearts of followers are not less than Iblees! This is their rule in life, to keep humiliating shuyukh, and when they are done with one shaykh they go to another, to humiliate him, and another one, and another one.

So we have to be very careful what words come out of our mouths. Every word has to be balanced; if we don't balance our words then we will be losers. Sayyidina `Ali (r) said, "There are four important principles in everything that a person must learn."

Prophet (s) said:

أنا مدينة العلم و علي بابها
`anaa madinatu 'l-`ilmi wa `Aliyyun baabuha,
I am the City of Knowledge and `Ali is it's door. (al-Haakim, Tirmidhi)

No one is wiser than him except the four khulafah, and all of them are equal: Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, Sayyidina `Umar, Sayyidina `Uthman, and Sayyidina `Ali (r). We have to respect all of them, and the wives and children of the Prophet (s), up to the Day of Judgment. Sayyidina `Ali (r) said this 1400 years ago, for all to learn. He is at the door of the City of Knowledge, which is Prophet (s)! So anyone here or there or in the future must be careful.

The first thing he said was, as-sukoot, Be silent." Do not talk, keep silent, because you don't know what words may come out of your mouth, so you have to be patient to be silent. They say in Arabic, "If talking is like silver, then silence is like gold." If you talk too much then your level is silver, and between silver and gold there is a big difference. So he said, "Keep silent." When you keep silent, you listen. And then he said, an-nutuq, "Keep your mouth frozen." Those who speak too much are nothing but tools in the hands of Shaytan, since they are creating fitna everywhere. That is why the media has the first curse on them, because they twist the news or the facts, then the government comes to them and says, "You twisted the words. Stop." The government judges them and the media outlets have to uphold the law; the media must not go against the law, so they must maintain balance.

And there is another media, which is the human media, and that is what Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s) prohibited:
 وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا وَلَا يَغْتَب بَّعْضُكُم بَعْضًا أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَن يَأْكُلَ لَحْمَ أَخِيهِ مَيْتًا فَكَرِهْتُمُوهُ
Wa laa tajasassoo wa laa yaghtab b`adakum b`adakum ayyuhibboo aahadukum an yaakulu lahma akhihi 'l-mayta fa karihtumooh.
And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? No, you would abhor it. (al-Hujurat, 49:12)

O Muslims! Allah (swt) said:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اجْتَنِبُوا كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الظَّنِّ إِنَّ بَعْضَ الظَّنِّ إِثْمٌ

yaa ayyuhaalladheena aamanoo ijtaniboo katheeran min adh-dhanni inna ba`da adh-dhanni ithmun.

O you who believe! Avoid many doubts (suspicions, assumptions), as doubts are a sin. (49:12)

As believers, we must stay far from fitna or else we will become sinners. And the one who starts the fitna is Iblees. The one who falls into fitna but who didn't start it has to repent, but Iblees is cursed. May Allah's curse come on whoever starts fitna! If you fall into fitna, Prophet (s) said:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِن جَاءكُمْ فَاسِقٌ بِنَبَأٍ فَتَبَيَّنُوا أَن تُصِيبُوا قَوْمًا بِجَهَالَةٍ فَتُصْبِحُوا عَلَى مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَادِمِينَ
wa in ja'akum fasiqun bi naba'in fa-tabayyinoo an tuseeboo qawman bi-jahaalatin fatusbihoo `alaa maa fa`ltum naadimeen.
If a corrupt person comes to you with something wrong, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done.
(49:6)

fa-tabayyinoo, "Ascertain the truth." Don't be a tool in spreading fitna. One of Allah's (swt) Divine Names is as-Sattar, "the Veiler." You called yourself "Slave of as-Sattar (Abdul-Sattar Kha)" and you are creating fitna! That name does not befit you; you have to say your name is "`Abdul-Fitna," the one who is creating fitna in Australia now! What do you have to do there now? If you want to see friends it's okayay, but it's not okayay to be a representative there. You never had permission to go there, and you have no right to call people there, or to call yourself "the khalifah of Singapore." I have the emails (complaints of your conduct from mureeds). Don't try to divide the people there. You are dividing them already. You are not "`Abdus-Sattar," but you are something else and it is haraam! Shame on you!

Y
ou have already considered yourself khalifah. Keep to yourself and your group! We don't want you to even come to our group! Stay away from them; keep to yourself and your own group. Your "summaries" (of suhbahs posted to your blog) are also rejected! You don't even understand Mawlana Shaykh Nazim; you are in kindergarten still, in nursery school.

You are worse than anyone here, since none of them have made fitna here but you. You went to Sri Lanka to see my brother and you claimed you have khilafah; you sent him a message saying, "I am already khalifah." Of course, if you sent him a message that you are khalifah, he will say, "Welcome." Then my brother discussed with you and ordered you, with many witnesses there, after I spokaye to him on the phone, he ordered you not to talk to anyone and to stop! I have the email if you want me to read it in front of everyone. D
on't think to come to this pious group of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim's mureeds, who have been with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim for fifteen years and they never had a problem.

Those who are with you are like you. Go alone, even if you conquer the whole world.
When Alexander the Great was dying, he told his ministers to put his hands outside the coffin. The ministers asked, "Why?" He said, "To show that the one who conquered the whole world left it with nothing in his hands." So even if you conquer the whole world, that is meaningless!

So Sayyidina `Ali (r) said, "Keep silent." If you knew the Naqshbandi Tariqat, you would have kept silent. Do what you want, but keep silent. And then Sayyidina `Ali (r) said, an-nutuq, "Don't speak." Be careful what stinky smell comes out of your mouth. Brush your teeth before you speak. You need a big brush, what they use for some kind of (...), use that brush. And when you have no stinky smell in your mouth, don't talk even then. Sayyidina `Ali (r) said, as-sima`, "Listen to what people say." Then he said, an-nazhar, "Observe," then you al-haraka, "move." In that case, you know where you are moving. But you (Abdul Sattar Khan) moved so quickly, you thought yourself a star. That is the sickness of the ego.

The shaykh told the mureed, "Collect a basket of walnuts and sit at the mosque. Everyone going in or out, give him one walnut if he beats you on the head with one of your shoes. Do this until the basket is finished, then come to me."

Shaykh Abu Yazid al-Bistami (q) made one mistake, and he was Sultan al-Awliya in his time. He was in Madinatu 'l-Munawwarah, where the Earth there does not absorb the rain so the water will fill people's wells. But we started from the end of the story. Before that, as he was walking in the streets of Madinah, he saw Iblees putting a bridle on every hajji. Abu Yazid said to him, "You are cursed! What are you doing here in Madinah? You can go anywhere in the world, you have carte blanche." He is Iblees; he likes to run after people, so in Hajj time he is putting a bridle on everyone and riding them. That means the first tawsiyya the shuyukh order when you go for Hajj is, "Don't be angry," since you will face a lot of obstacles. Keep patience. You came for Allah; you didn't come to eat and drink and smokaye. Some people smokaye there, but if you want to do this, stay in your country.

There are too many followers of Iblees and he is riding them. Around the world, people are getting angry. Prophet (s) said to Sayyidina Abu Bakr (q), al-ghadabu kufrun, "Anger is unbelief." You don't know what you might do when you are angry; you might kill someone.

So he told Iblees, "I am Abu Yazid. Do you have a bridle for me?"
He said, "O Abu Yazid, you will ride with no bridle."
Sayyidina Abu Yazid (q) cursed him, "You mal`oon!" and he left. Ten days later, rain came showering and people had to cross from one side of the rushing flood to another. Young ones could move, but not old ones. Abu Yazid saw an old man with a stick coming to a crosswalk of the street to cross, but there was a flood.
He was limping, so he said, "O my son, can you help me?"
Abu Yazid (q) said, "Yes, sit on my back and I will carry you across the river to the other side."
He crossed over to the other side, and then that old man said, "Thank you. Didn't I tell you I would ride you with no bridle?"

One time he showed ego, and Allah closed his eyes to reality! So be careful of the ego.

When the shaykh wants to take away burdens from someone, he shouts at that person. Grandshaykh (q) used to say, "The most happy time for the shaykh is when he shouts at someone and they don't run away. I shout at them to carry their burden." That is the hikmat, to shout at them. They are still in diapers. If you don't train a child during childhood to clean himself, he will never learn it. So to the shaykh we are in diapers and when he shouts he carries that burden.

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim said openly, "I don't like anyone to make Shaykh Hisham angry, because then you will be in problems and I will not defend you." So my authority is to face problems. When one is covered with a problem, I will take away that problem from him. I am not shouting at this person, but shouting at him to clean him and to take him from being a servant of Shaytan and instead, to be a servant of as-Sattar. That is why you see Mawlana sometimes shouting; he carries their burden. Hundreds of times Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and Grandshaykh (q) said, "If I throw you from the door, come back through the window." That is because shouting at the mureed will clean him. Also, by shouting at one he cleans the others who have the same problem but who cannot carry the shouting. So he said, "If I kick you from the door, come through the window."

How many tests we saw in Grandshaykh's time and in Mawlana Shaykh Nazim's time? We were in the forefront when others were sleeping or doing nothing. May Allah (swt) forgive us and teach us adab. I will share this story:

One time when I was around 22 years old and Shaykh Adnan was around 20 years old, we used to, from a young age, go and visit Grandshaykh every other day between Beirut and Syria. One day we came to Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, and we said, as many do out of love, "We left everything and came to you. We want to be at your door."
He said, "Are you sure?"
We said, "Yes, 100%."
He said, "But at my door? I have too many."
We said, "We still want to come".
He said, "Okay, approach." So we came near and he said, "Empty your pockets." We emptied our pockets. He said, "How did you come here today?"
We said, "With our car."
"Okay, give me the keys." He said, "Abdus-Salam," calling his servant, "Get the title to the car and let them sign it." Then our hearts went with the car; it was beginning to become difficult. He said, "Go to the masjid. My ex-servant's clothes, who died 107 years of age, are sitting in a basket hanging in the masjid. Take the clothes from that basket," which was there perhaps seven years. "So you came here to surrender?"

Abdus-Salam took the clothes by the tips of his fingers; he could not hold them since they were full of fleas! Abdus-Salam said, "Okay, take the clothes, put them on. And why are you changing your clothes in the masjid?" So we went to the bathroom and put on the clothes and immediately found ourselves covered with fleas, in our beards, everywhere.

Grandshaykh said, "Then you have surrendered. Now go to Ibn Arabi's Mosque and sit there. Take a cloth, like the beggars who are sitting there; people passersby will give small pennies. You collect the pennies and bring this to me. And there at Sayyidina Ibn Arabi's mosque they give soup two times per day, morning and evening. You stay in the mosque and you go there daily, eat, sit and collect money. That is surrendering at my door."

What can you say? Already the car is gone, the money is gone, the clothes are gone, and we are wearing clothes full of fleas! So we went to the mosque. As soon as we began walking to the mosque, Grandshaykh (q) sent Abdus-Salam to us and said, "Come back, the test is finished. Come to the back of the house." There he gave us a medicine that eats all the hair, zanook. It removes all the beard hair, and inside we became like amrad, hairless. We have to go to Hollywood, so hairless! He sent us our clean clothes and said, "Wear these and come." He said, "O my sons, tariqah is what the shaykh sees, not what you see and ask."

It means, don't go to the shaykh and complain. If you want to complain, complain to yourself, don't complain to others. It might be the shaykh assigns someone who no one accepts, but you accept that one out of adab. He said, "We are coming to polish your ego."

Prayers you can learn anywhere, but the most difficult thing in tariqah is to teach us to have no anger and no ego, not to be a peacock, but to be humble, all of us! The most humble act is when you have power to put someone down but you don't, instead you release him. It is to forgive when you have power. And we are not governments, to do something to people. We forgive everyone. The shaykh's testing it is to take the harm away from people and to clean you up and bring you to the Right Path, not to go astray.

May Allah forgive all of us and give us a happy life.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

The True Meaning of the Title "al-Mudaththir"
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
23 December 2010     Tangerang, Indonesia
Suhbah / Mawlid at Dar al-Islah with K.H. Amir Hamzah
(Translated from Arabic)

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah, nawaytu 'r-riyaadah, nawaytu 's-sulook, lillahi ta`ala fee haadha 'l-masjid.

Ati`ullaha wa ati`u 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (4:59)

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.

Awliyaullah have divine news that this year will be full of mistakes, so stay home, continue reading Qur'an, making dhikr and salawaat on the beloved Prophet (s).

O Lord! You are the Generous and we are the weak ones. You are the Strong, so please connect us with Prophet (s) in this life and in the Hereafter. Have him regard and watch our lives and our hearts! O Allah! Unite us in this night with Prophet (s) and make us to see him with our own eyes. If not possible, then kindly allow him to grant us his glance upon us and our lives! O Lord! Don't deprive us from being with him! From being in his presence, guidance, and under his vigilance yaa Allah!

This is a book written by one of the awliyaullah, as some of you might know. It gives a detailed descriptions of the characteristics of Prophet (s). When he was born, he prostrated in sajdah to his Lord. He has many characteristics, some of which are bravery and leadership. As a characteristic of his courage, he fears no one except Allah Almighty! When the angel came to him during his birth, along with Jibreel (a), `Azra`il (a), and others, as well as Maryam (a), Hawaa (a), the wife of Pharaoh, and all who attended his birth, nevertheless, he continued to be in prostration to his Lord.

How come they did not pay attention to the real meaning of "al-Mudaththir"? After seeing Sayyidina Jibreel (a), who came down to him with the Lord's revelation, Prophet (s) said, daththiroonee, "cover me." He was in a state of meditation in the cave of Hira. But do you think, according to some interpretations, that he was trembling from fear of Sayyidina Jibreel (a)? How can we say that he was afraid of Jibreel (a), given that this angel was with him during his birth and in other events in his life? So what is the actual meaning of "daththiroonee"?  Allah said in Holy Qur'an:
يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ قُمْ فَأَنذِرْ وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ
Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. yaa ayyuhal- muddaththir, qum fa andhir, wa rabbuka fakabbir.
O you, wrapped up (in the mantle)! Arise and deliver your warning, and your Lord magnify! (al-Mudaththir, 74:1-3)

Dathirooni means "to be covered up by something". When he was asked by Jibreel (a) to read, even though he was illiterate from our point of view, but was not illiterate on other levels, Prophet (s) said, "Cover me with what Allah has adorned me." Prophet asked Jibreel, ma 'ana biqari, "What do you wish me to read?"
Jibreel (a) answered, "With Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem, read from all the secret knowledges about all of the existing Creations; read with these secrets."
Trembling, Prophet (s) said, "O angels! Cover me with all the realities, knowledges, and secrets manifested to me since the Day of Promises."

Prophet (s) said:
Dhahab alhlu 'd-duthoor bil-ujur.
People of dathr (giving),have taken the reward.

So another meaning for daththiroonee, other than the verbal "cover me," is "bestow me with." Allah (swt) is saying, Yaa ayyuha 'l-muddaththir! "O the rich one, to whom Allah granted knowledges not previously open to anyone! Get up and warn!" It does not mean "warn distant persons," but rather it means, "notify the close ones about the esoteric knowledges that have not yet been open to anyone." This is supported by the two verses I read by Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa`ee (q): "I was in my distant state. I was sending my ghost spirit to go and kiss your hand. But now I have come in your presence to uphold and absorb from your lights, in the presence of the spiritual congregation."

Say, Allahu Akbar! (Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar!)
إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِينًا
Inna fatahna laka fathan mubeena.
Verily, We have granted thee a manifest victory.
(al-Fath, 48:1)

This also means, "We have opened to you a revelation." This verse of Surat al-Fath, is a witness to the verse of al-Mudaththir we mentioned earlier. Shaykh Ahmad Al-Rifa`ee (q) wrote a poem in the event that he would visit the blessed maqam of Prophet (s) in Madinatu 'l-Munawwara, in which he pleaded for Prophet to give him his hand to take real bay`a with Prophet in the state of spiritual distance. Awliyaullah are capable of coming out from their body in the spirit form, to reach anywhere, and they appear in an etherial state. Ahmad Al-Rifa`ee said he used to travel in spirit to the blessed maqam of Prophet (s), before he finally got the chance to visit him physically. Therefore, awliyaullah may transcend the physical in a spiritual state. However, from his Holy Ascension, Prophet Muhammad (s) possesses spiritual as well as physical capabilities, in both states, as exemplified in the Mi`raj.

Prophet (s) said:
On every letter of "laa ilaaha illa-Llah," Allah creates an angel who makes the same remembrance on his behalf until the Day of Judgment. (Sha`arani)

Allah (swt) is saying, "We have opened to you a revelation that is impossible to absorb, so as to inform people about it, and to forgive you, as you are carrying their burdens." So without feeling we are all beseeching the Prophet (s) to carry our sins and intercede for us. This is why Allah is saying, "O Muhammad (s)! I have manifested on you with this opening, to enable you to carry this responsibility."
Inna fatahna laka fathan mubina, liyaghfira lakallahu ma taqaddama min zanbika wa ma ta akhkhar.
We have opened to you a distinguished, distinct opening, so as to absolve you from all previous and future sins that you will intercede on behalf of your ummah. (al-Fath, 48:1-2)

Wa law idh zhalamoo anfusahum. In general, if you commit a sin, you come in the presence of Prophet (s) asking him to intercede for your forgiveness. Allah (swt) is saying, "O Muhammad (s)! When you have opened to them from the inner and outer secrets, they realized their darkness and oppressive natures, so they came up to you, asking for your forgiveness."

Sayyida Rabi`a al-`Adawiya (q) used to say to her Lord, "I am not serving You for the sake of Your reward, nor in fear of Your punishment, but because You deserve being loved and served!"

Whatever knowledges awliyaullah have attained are nothing compared to what was granted to Prophet's (s) of Usool Awwaleen wa 'l-`Akhireen, "Knowledges of Before and After." What we can do is resort to the cave, where Allah (swt) will spread His mercy upon you. "Mercy" is Prophet Muhammad (s), and "the cave" is the heart of Prophet (s)! Therefore, those who seek refuge must go to the prophetic heart.

Similarly, in Surat al-YaaSeen, Allah (swt) is saying:

وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ

Wa aayatun lahum anna hamalna dhurriy-yatahum fi 'l-fulki 'l-mashhoon.

And a sign to them is that we carry them and their descendants in a loaded ship. (36:41)

The "loaded ship" is the prophetic heart carrying all the believers. It is said about,"laa ilaaha illa-Llah" in the Book Tabaqat, that Allah (swt) takes the worst servants for His judgment and puts in front of them 99 books, records of all their sins. He commands angels to weigh those records against one utterance of "laa ilaaha illa-Llah," which is heavier on the Scale, and thus they are taken to Paradise! If one remembrance is able to weigh that much, then is it not worthy for us to remember Allah (swt) at least one-hundred times a day?

Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa`ee mentioned in his du`a that he asked Allah (swt) to show him Prophet's (s) face during the moment of death. I would like to give you good tidings from awliyaullah: Prophet (s) actually appears during these moments and pulls the spirit out with his merciful hands!

Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa`ee continues, "O imaam of all Messengers! O my Support! You are the dependable door to Allah! O Messenger of Allah! Take my hand, and support me in this life and in the Hereafter! My eyes have never seen and will never see anyone with such pure qualities and characteristics! O my Master! O Messenger of Allah! You are the one whose rank is high with Allah! The sinners have come to you with their sins, seeking Allah's forgiveness!
O Master of the Messengers! O Pure One! You are the highest goal and aim! Allah (swt) has blessed you in every moment and time! O Master of the Messengers! O Pure One! Your slave and servant is waiting with humility at your door! We are ever thankful for your favors, in every moment and time! All my sorrows are relieved with your remembrance! O Opener of the Door! O Capable One! Allah, my Lord Almighty! O my Beloved! Connect me, for the period has taken too long!"

May Allah forgive us and bless us.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

Message for the New Hijrah Year
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

31 December 2010 Burton, Michigan
Jumu`ah Khutbah at As-Siddiq Mosque

O Muslims! O Believers! This is a new year, not tomorrow, I mean the Arabic year, the Hijrah year, when Prophet (s) migrated from Mecca to Madinah, and it is the year 1432. It has been 20 days, or nearly one month since the beginning of that new year. We hope, inshaa-Allah, it is a year of heavenly support for Muslims and a year of tranquility and peace around the world.

Illa tansuruhu faqad nasarahul-Lahu idh akhrajahu 'Lladhina kafara thaaniy athnayni idh huma fi 'l-ghaari idh yaqoolu li saahibihi laa tahzan inn 'Llaha ma`ana.
If you help not (it is no matter), for God did indeed help him when the unbelievers drove him out. He had no more than one Companion;
they two were in the cave, and he said to his Companion, "Have no fear, for God is with us."
  (at-Tawbah, 9:40)

In this ayah, Allah (swt) is not waiting for anyone to support His Prophet (s). 'Illa tansuruhu faqad nasarahu means, "whether you support him or not, Allah is supporting His Prophet," `alayhi salaam! Prophet said to his companion in the cave, "Don't be sad, Allah is with us." Allah is not waiting for support for His messenger and the message of Islam; the message of Islam is supported by heavenly support and whether you like it or not, it does not matter. Islam is going to be up and baatil, falsehood, is going to be down. There is no discussion on this issue! Those who believe in Allah and His Prophet (s) will be saved from punishment, and those who do not believe are going to face punishment. Don't say, "Why?" as there is no "why." Allah (swt) does not need anyone; we need Him! He is supporting.

Allah (swt) said:

Al-yawma akmaltu lakum deenukum wa atmamtu `alaykum n`imatee wa radeetu lakum al-islaama deena.
This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. (al-Maida, 5:3)

It (the debate) is finished; to Allah, the religion is Islam! What did Pharoah say?
Wa jawazna bi Bani Israa'eel al-bahra fa atba`ahum Fira`oon wa junooduhu baghyaan wa`adwan. Hatta idhaa adrakahu al-gharaqu qaala aamantu annahu laa ilaha illa 'Lladhee aamanat bihi Banoo Israa'eel wa anna min al-Muslimeen.
We took the Children of Israel across the sea. Pharaoh and his hosts followed them in insolence and spite. At length, when overwhelmed with the flood, he said, "I believe there is no god except Him Whom the Children of Isra`eel believe in. I am Muslim (of those who submit to God in Islam)."
(Yunus, 10:90)

When Fira`oon was following Sayyidina Musa and his people, Bani Isra`eel, Allah (swt) ordered Sayyidina Musa to hit the ocean with his staff. The ocean opened, Sayyidina Musa and his people moved, and the water closed in on Fira`oon. When he was drowning, he said, "I believe in what Bani Isra`eel believe and I am a Muslim!" He did not say, "I am a believer in the Torah," or, "I believe in Musa." He said, wa anna min al-Muslimeen. Allah (swt) said, "Now, when you are dying?" But Pharoah mentioned, wa anna min al-Muslimeen, because every prophet has mentioned to his people that Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is coming.

Wa idh qaala `Isa abnu Maryam yaa Bani Israa'eel innee rasoolullahi ilaykum musaddiqaan limaa bayna yadayya min at-Tawraati wa mubashshiran bi rasoolin yaatee min ba`dee 'smuhu Ahmad. Fa lammaa ja'ahum bi 'l-bayyinaati qaaloo hadha sihrun mubeen.
And remember Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O Children of Israel! I am the apostle of God (sent) to you, confirming the law before me, and giving glad tidings of an apostle to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear signs, they said, "This is evident sorcery!"
(as-Saff, 61:6)

Sayyidina `Isa said, "I am giving good tidings to my people that after me is coming a prophet whose name is Ahmad." "Ahmad" is his name in Heavens and "Muhammad": is his name on Earth. Every prophet has given the good tidings that Sayyidina Muhammad is the Seal of Messengers (s) and he is supported by Heavens. Even if the whole world comes against the Prophet (s), they cannot even touch a hair on his body, as Allah (swt) saved him! 'Illa tansuruhu faqad nasarahullah. "Allah supports him, whether you support him or not!"

O Muslims! We are one month into the new Hijrah year, from the time when Prophet (s) migrated from Mecca to Madinah. It is now 1432 lunar years. Sayyidina Muhiyadeen ibn Arabi (r) quoted a hadeeth in the tafseer of Qur'an, Ruh al-Bayan. In his tafseer of Surat al-`Asr, one of the meanings is "Salat al-`Asr," and the other meaning is, essentially, that "`Asr" is 100 years. Another meaning is the age of Prophet, 63 years is the `Asr. Awliya count the `Asr by 63 years, they don't count it by 100 years.

Prophet (s) said:
ان استقامت امتى فلها يوم وان لم تستقم فلها نصف يوم
in istaqaamat ummatee falahaa yawm wa in lam tastaqim falahaa nisfa yawm.
If this nation has not been corrupted, Allah will give it one day of life, and if it is corrupt then Allah will give it the life of half-a-day.

وَإِنَّ يَوْمًا عِندَ رَبِّكَ كَأَلْفِ سَنَةٍ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ
wa inna yawma inda rabbika ka-alfi sannatin mimma ta`udoon
Verily, a day in the sight of thy Lord is like a thousand years of your reckoning. (al-Hajj, 22:47)

One day to Allah (swt) is like one-thousand years of what we count on Earth. It means Allah give this ummah 1500 years (one day plus a half day). We are in the year 1432, and according to awliyaaullah, what is left is 68 years. Allah knows best. Allah knows the ghayb, Unseen. We don't know, we only analyze and observe. It means time is running short, and in this 68 years Sayyidina `Isa (a) will come, and `alaamat as-sa`at al-kubra will come ten years after Sayyidina `Isa, who will come for forty years, then Sayyidina Mahdi (a) for seven years, and then `alaamat as-sa`at al-kubra. The total is fifty years, which means we are so close! What will be left before nafikh fi 's-soor, the blowing of the trumpet? Only a very short time.

O Muslims! Time is running and Allah (swt) will support this religion until there is no one left who says, "Allah, Allah." Then He will order Sayyidina Israfeel (a) to blow the trumpet for everyone to die. That means that day is coming when no one on Earth will remember Allah (swt), and that is from `alaamat as-sa`at al-kubra, the biggest signs of the Last Days, when Yajooj wa 'l-Majooj (Gog and Magog) come, and people will no longer remember, as Allah will take from the minds of people the remembrance of Allah (swt). Don't say, "There will be one or two hiding here and there." No, Allah will pull them out with, Kun fa ya kun, "Be! And it is." That is coming, so keep your awraad, keep your dhikr, and and keep your teachings of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim! Learn more. People are making plans for ten, twenty or thirty years, and they don't know if they will die tomorrow or not.

We are asking Allah (swt) to stretch our lives to see Sayyidina Mahdi (a), and to be with him. He is Mahdi, who does not need any weapons, as his weapons are heavenly support! When he says, "Allahu Akbar," people immediately change from kufr to imaan! May Allah keep us to see that time. It is going to be a very difficult time. I heard from Grandshaykh (q), "Out of every seven, one will stay and six will go." And I heard from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, the number is dropping, "Out of five, four will go and one will remain." So may Allah (swt) save us!

Sayyidina Nuh (a) said to his son, "Come and join us in the boat from the flood." His son answered:

Qaala sa-aawee illa jabalin ya`simunee min al-maai. Qaala laa `asima al-yawm min amrillah illa man rahima wa haala baynahuma'l-mawju fa-kaana mina'l-mughraqeen.
The son replied: "I will betake myself to some mountain: it will save me from the water." Noah said: "This day nothing can save, from the command of Allah, any but those on whom He hath mercy! "And the waves came between them, and the son was among those overwhelmed in the Flood.
(Hud, 11:43)
"I am going to climb the mountain that will protect me from the flood; I am not coming with you." , "Today there is no one who is protected."

Allah (swt) was saying this to Sayyidina Nuh, but it applies to everyone. When the Signs of the Last Days come, there is no protection anymore. Awliyaullah protect their followers, if their followers are behaving. May Allah (swt) keep us behaving and forgive us our sins, which are too many.

Interview with Chilean Miners, Part 1
Sultan al-Awliya
Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani
20 December 2010    Lefke, Cyprus

(Spanish translation to English is by Shaykh Abdul Metin of Argentina, who is accompanying the miners. He was ordered to deliver Mawlana Shaykh's package to them when they were trapped in the mine.)

Buon bonito (good, nice ones), sit down buon bonito! SubhaanAllah alhamdulillah wa la ilaaha illa-Llah w'Allahu Akbar wa la hawla wa la quwatta illa billahi 'l-`Aliyyu 'l-`Azheem. Omar and Dario (two Chilean miners), I hope those people who were imprisoned 700 feet underground--and it is a miraculous happening to make people think about spirituality and miracles--as an ordinary position, if all technology came together, it could never save them!

One night I was informed about their terrible situation, and that night I prayed for those people to be saved. Throughout the east and west there are 313 miraculous people. I called on one of them to look after them, and he ordered me to send items to them. (Mawlana Shaykh turns to the translator.) Perhaps you took my message, for them to recite, "laa ilaaha illa-Llah," and also if it was possible, to take to them our "triangle" (taweez.), and all blessings are from our Lord, Almighty Allah. (Mawlana Shaykh stands) All glory and majesty is for Allah Almighty, and also for His most honored and glorified deputy, Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! (Mawlana Shaykh sits.) Help came from an unknown direction and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven people just entered that place, and they did not see them, but they saw the trapped miners, who
were taken up on the date that was written on the Preserved Tablets, and it all transpired in such a way. Those miners observed a very, very weak miracle, an ordinary miracle, that the mountain was taken away in a moment but others could not carry it, even the whole world's people could not carry it! Therefore, slowly, slowly, they were given what they were in need of until that period was complete.

SubhaanAllah, two miners have come here and we are looking at them, and those people I was following here also got out. If it was not a holy one who used that (drilling.) machine, it would have come on their heads! It is so difficult, but one holy one was in that area and took it up, or else the rescue would have been impossible! The Lord of Heavens makes the impossible become possible through the weakest holy one. Now I am happy to see them here, that it is their good chance to come here, also to look at them and to see them. Behind our guests there is coming an opening for spirituality in that area. As much as North America becomes materialistic, those people are going to be more spiritual and power will be given to them. Yes, it is now good. I hope that they will reach to Mahdi (a) and also Jesus Christ (a), and mostly those people are coming to Islam!

(Mawlana Shaykh gives money to the miners.) It is a little amount but I hope to reach to them every month.
Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. Inshaa-Allah, you may reach me through my son, and you may ask him and what is coming to me of more charity, I am sending; I am not leaving them. I don't like you to work once again on that (in the mine), no. He may stand in a fleamarket by himself and it is enough, but monthly inshaa-Allah what is coming to me, I am sending inshaa-Allah.

Translator:
(Translator gives Mawlana Shaykh a Chilean flag signed by the 33 miners.) They signed it inside the mine and it is a gift from all of them to you. (The miners gave coal and mineral as a gift as well as an embroidered cloth and a rosary from one of the miner's family.) They are saying this is nothing, in return for all the prayers and all you did for them.

Mawlana Shaykh:
Our reward is coming from Heavens. We are weak workers, weak servants. (Mawlana Shaykh gives several tasbihs for the children of the miners.)

(The daughter of one miner sits at Mawlana Shaykh's feet, weeping. Last summer she took shahadah with Naqshbandi mureeds in Santiago, Chile, and she was able to get Mawlana Shaykh's package to the miners.)

Translator:
In May, she lost her son in the sea.

Mawlana Shaykh:
Inshaa-Allah, he will come when Jesus comes down. Don't worry, we may bring inshaa-Allah. Fatihah.

(Chileans take baya`.)

Mawlana Shaykh: Happy days to you, here and Hereafter. Pray, pray, pray for me. Shukr, yaa Rabbee.

Translator:
May Allah bless you.

(Mawlana Shaykh hugs the miners.) Mashaa-Allah. Mashaa-Allah. (They are) lions! Send my salaams! Inshaa-Allah thousands and thousands, ten thousand, one-hundred thousand will be coming to Damascus on the sea!

Translator:
He is saying they are very grateful for this invitation. They are honored and they will tell all the other miners about their experience here.

Mawlana Shaykh:
Send my regards and salaams to all the other miners, and (tell them) if possible, I don't like them to work under the Earth. A small amount of work is better on the Earth. Yes, and they are like my children. Inshaa-Allah, I hope that I can reach them monthly. Don't go down (in the mines), there is no need.

Translator:
They are honored for what you are saying.

Mawlana Shaykh:
Allah is enough for us. Work outside, don't go down. The second time, we are not carrying the responsibility! (laughter) As-salaamu `alaykum. I shall send to them money to make a dergah and they may have goats. Goats and planting crops is enough for them. I shall send to you money to buy one-thousand goats, and in the second year there will be ten thousand!

Translator:
He was a shepherd of seven hundred goats when he was a child.

Mawlana Shaykh:
Ah! Therefore, I am saying this. He was looking after seven hundred?

Translator:
With his grandfather.

Mawlana Shaykh:
I shall send you money for five hundred goats! Mashaa-Allah, mashaa-Allah you are happy, happy, happy! In Argentina there is too much wood they are selling. They may make a company. Shaykh Abdul Metin, may Allah Almighty help you. Allah bless you, Allah bless you!

INTERVIEW WITH OMAR AND DARIO

Question:
Now that they met Mawlana and took baya`, how do they feel?

Answer: He is saying when they grabbed the stick and gave baya`, he thought that he was getting drunk. When he felt that feeling he thought his pressure was going up, up, up to the mountain. Then he talked to Dario and he said the same, he was also feeling like this. But after, he felt a heavy burden was taken from his back and he feels very good, very peaceful, and very pleased.

Question:
Generally, how was this trip?

Answer:
He is saying that he feels this trip is completely wonderful. He has had a very peaceful, quiet, and restful time. Before coming here, he had a very difficult problem with sleeping and here he said he is sleeping like a baby, every night very relaxed and peaceful. They feel completely honored and blessed because they see how other people are waiting many days to meet Mawlana for only a few minutes, and they have been with him every day, going in the car two times, having dinner, etc. Generally it is very difficult for him to put in words this experience. He feels really, really grateful for all the words that Mawlana told them and what he gave them and what he told them about not going (back) to the mines and taking care. And he is going to tell his family and children what he experienced here, and about not going back to the mines and living a different lifestyle than he was living before.

Question:
And now after arriving here, because of the accident that happened in the mine, how does he see the accident, because the accident is the reason they were brought here, although they were also invited?

Answer:
(Omar speaks.) He is saying that his way of looking at the accident is that first, he doesn't think it was an accident, he thinks it was a test that God sent to them in order for them to forget about unimportant things and to remember Him. And for him, from that point of view, this test is to put them back on the track to remember God and forget other things.

(Dario.) He wanted to add some words to what Omar said. He is saying that he is very grateful for everything that happened here. He feels he was invited, because two others miners were supposed to come with Omar, but at the last minute they canceled, and at the last minute he jumped on the plane to come here! So he feels blessed and honored to be here with such nice people, and especially with Mawlana, because he feels he is a really, really special grandmaster.

(...) It was really, really dark and with the dust it was impossible to see anything and then they reached to a certain level and realized there was no exit. On Level 190, everything was blocked with no way to get out, but the awliya must have called one of the blessed ones, because the drill was going down in a different direction, and at some point, without any explanation, the drill turned and started going in a different direction, and it reached their place by only 20 centimeters (7.86 inches) and they were found, otherwise they would have been lost again!

The main thing they did was that everyday at noon they made a prayer, and that was very important to them. He said that this is something they haven't told anyone in a public way, but at the beginning of the ordeal, the first thing they ate was two teaspoons of tuna fish every 24 hours. Then after a short while, they started eating the same two teaspoons, but every two days. And at the end they started to eat the two teaspoons every three days, every 72 hours. That was what they ate.

(After they were located) scientists took a sample of the water in the mine to analyze it and the chemical analyst said, "Don't even take a bath with that water!" But it kept them alive for the first seventeen days (until communication was reached). He (Omar) was drinking six liters every day! They were under very difficult breathing conditions because with a consistent 40 degrees Celsius there is very low oxygen and very heavy air, but he said that sometimes just before they would start to become desperate and had problems breathing, a fresh breeze came. They never explained where the cool air was coming from.

On Sunday, we received a phone call from Mawlana in Cyprus saying, "Tell them that in order to quickly get out of the situation, they must recite, '
la ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah.'" So he put on the hijab (taweez) and started giving each of his companions the hijab and the letter, and they were all reading the letter and putting on the hijab. Just before receiving the bucket (with Mawlana's package), the drill got stuck. When they received the bucket, that day the rescue workers were able to unblock the drill and they continued digging down. And one brother from Santiago heard a journalist (who was viewing the miners via closed circuit cameras lowered into the mine) speaking and he asked, "What is this black triangle hanging from all of the miners' necks?" He was wondering, and no one knew (what the taweez was).

Omar needed to see in person who was the master sending this blessing to him and he especially wanted to experience what was going to be his feeling when he was in front that master. He says when he was in front of Mawlana, he had a very nice feeling. It is very difficult for him to explain what he experienced. And to leave this world in the best way, he could imagine at that moment, and he prayed to our Lord, "Please, if You are going to take me and this is my time, I am here, so just take me." He made a du`a and immediately felt this fresh, cool breeze that filled him inside. He breathed it inside of him and he knew that it was Mawlana's presence that was coming into him at that moment.

For the first 17 days they were very close to each other, really like one entity, with no discussions and no differences. They had a very strong attachment to each other and they were just one group. They are reminding not only their families but the whole world, to remember God through their prayers. It is what makes us realize that we are forgetting something essential, and very, very important, to be with our Lord first, and then attend to other responsibilities.

The Power and Glory of "Laa ilaaha illa-Llah"

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
7 December 2010     Kuala Lampur, Malaysia
Private Residence /Suhbah after Maghrib

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,
nawaytu 'r-riyaadah, nawaytu 's-sulook, lillahi ta`ala fee haadha 'l-masjid.

Ati`ullaha wa ati`u 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (4:59)

Alhamdulillah, Allah (swt) has guided us to be Muslim. Ni`matahu wa nastaghfirahu wa nastadeeh wa nashadoo anna laa ilaaha illa-Llah wa nashadoo anna Muhammad (s) `abdoohoo wa rasooluh. `Ama ba`d, ayyuhal ahibbah, `alayna an-nashkur Allah `ala khalaqana min ummat an-Nabi. We have to thank Allah for making us from the ummah of the Prophet (s). Allahumma salli `ala....Whatever we say, still we cannot give back the right of Allah (swt) on us. No matter how much we worship, pray, or fast, even if we are worshipping Allah from morning to night and from the time of Adam (a) to the last day of dunya, we cannot fulfill Allah's right on us!

Don't think, "I am doing this or that." You are not doing anything except showing that you are thanking Allah, that He created you and made you from ummat an-Nabee (s). Whatever your worship, it is only to thank Him. Don't think more. No one here is an `alim (scholar). In this dunya, there is no `alim that knows everything, because what we know is a drop of an ocean. `Ilm (knowledge) is coming from the name "al-`Alim," (a Divine Name). laa yumkin ahaatta `ilmillah, wa law ahaata bi `ilm ad-dunyawiyya wa 'sh-Shara`iyyah, "If you were an `alim of all the sciences and of all Shari`ah law, you will never be able to encompass the knowledge that comes from the Beautiful Names and Attributes." All this `ilm is not even an atom from that knowledge!

When you say "al-`Alim," it is a siffah of Allah and "Allah" is a Name of the Essence, adh-Dhaat al-Buht. No one can know the Essence, no one can reach the level to know all the Beautiful Names and Attributes and describe the Name of the Essence, "Allah."

Allah (swt) said:

Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem, Qul Huw Allahu Ahad.

Say (O Muhammad), "He is 'Allah', The One Who Is Completely Unknown." (al-Ikhlaas, 112:1)

He is described by the Beautiful Names and Attributes. "Al-`Alim" describes one aspect of Allah (swt), Who is directing us when He says:

Allahu noorus-samawati wal-`ard.

Allah is the Light of the Heavens and the Earth. (al-Noor, 24:35)

What is the meaning here of "noor"? Allah is the Light of everything that has been created in Heavens and Earth. Noor is not what you think. It is not the same as the light you see outside. That is not the noor that is being described in Allahu noorus-samawati wal-ard. According to one interpretation, the noor described in this ayah refers to, "He is the power behind everything alive or not alive," that He gave a secret to every Creation He created. No one knows that secret coming from that noor, not even that person himself, or Heavens and Earth, or Paradise, or all these galaxies. No one is able to understand the power behind that Creation.

For this reason, the Prophet (s) said:

قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ

Qul innamaa 'anaa basharun mithlukum.
Say (O Muhammad), "I am only a man like you."
(Surat al-Kahf, 18:110)

But he is not a "man" like us. If you say so, then try going to Mi`raaj and see what happens! You cannot even go to the Himalayas without getting dizzy and falling down, so how can you go to qaba qawsayni aw adna? In front of the Prophet (s), we don't exist!

W`alamoo 'ana feekum rasoolullah.

And know that Allah's Messenger is in you. (al-Hujrat, 49:7)

We exist within the Prophet (s), but outside of him we do not exist! (Mawlana stands) As-salaatu was-salam `alayka yaa Rasoolullah (s)! (Mawlana sits) Knowledge never ends. Just now Shaykh `Abdul Qadir was reciting the Holy Qur'an:

يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُقُمْ فَأَنذِرْ وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ

Yaa ayyuha 'l-mudaththir, qum fa andhir wa rabbuka fa-kabbir.

O you, wrapped up (in the mantle)! Arise and warn, and your Sustainer's greatness glorify! (Surat al-Muddaththir, 74:1-3)

Why was he covering himself? What happened to make him cover himself immediately after entering his house? He was shaking. Why? From seeing Sayyidina Jibreel (a), who came with the Revelation. Allah (swt) said:

Iqra! Bismi Rabbikalladhee khalaq. Khalaqal insaana min `alaq. Iqraa, wa Rabbuk al-akram.

Read! In the Name of your Lord and Cherisher, Who created Man out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood. Read, and your Lord is Most Bountiful. (96:1-3)

So was he shaking from fear, from the majesty of Sayyidina Jibreel (a) that appeared to Prophet (s)? When you see someone traveling, out of the goodness of your heart you may reach into your pocket and give that person how ever much money you have. Will this person tremble? No, they will be happy. If you give them gold or diamonds, will they tremble? No, they will be happy. Likewise, if you give them knowledge of Creation, they will be happy with the knowledge and will tremble with the honor Allah has bestowed on them. "Ahl ad-Duthoor," are the rich. "O Muhammad (s), whom I made ghani (from the Name, "al-Ghani")! I gave you that ghina, the wealth of knowledge, that you wrapped yourself with."

Allah (swt) gave him to read, "Iqraa." Don't say the Prophet (s) didn't know how to read. Then why did Jibreel (a) say to him "iqraa"? "O you who has been wrapped in that knowledge, qum fa andhir, stand up and warn the people," warn them not to be frightened but not to be away from His love. Wa rabbuka fa-kabbir, "And magnify your Lord." You don't say that out of fear but out of happiness, that your Lord has honored you. Kabbir here means glorify Him for the honor He gave to you. Knowledge is from the Name, "al-`Alim."

O Muslims! We are coming and going around the world, giving talks. Many are benefiting and listening, and some are not. For some, it has become like a habit, it goes in one ear and out the other. It has become mere socialization, nothing more. Where is the knowledge? That knowledge that we speak about is the knowledge of awliyaullah. How many times, for example, do you get stung by bees when you are extracting honey? Likewise, if you want knowledge from awliyaullah, you have to get stung. Don't say, "The shaykh shouted at me;" that is the sting, be happy with it. If you want a flower, you have to also get the thorns. Not everything is free, yaa Shaykh `Abdul Qadir, as in dunya issues. If you know someone, they give you business, or if you know something, you do business. Here you get stung. And now there is a new laser pistol called a taser. Not everything is simple. Fill your heart with what Allah (swt) likes. What does Allah like from you? Ma huwa ash-shay alladhee yoohibbuh, ahabba shayyun ila-Allah, "To say 'laa ilaaha illa-Llah' is to make Allah happy."

Prophet (s) said:
Man qaala laa ilaaha illa-Llah dakhal al-Jannah.
Whoever says,'laa ilaaha illa-Llah' (and this implies "Muhammadun Rasoolullah") enters Paradise.

Afdhal adh-dhikri laa
ilaaha illa-Llah.
The best of dhikr is 'laa ilaaha illa-Llah.'

Allah (swt) says in Holy Qur'an:

Know, therefore, that there is no god but Allah. and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and for the men and women who believe: for Allah knows how ye move about and how ye dwell in your homes.
(47:19)

This is from the Holy Qur'an. And the hadith, afdal adh-dhikr
laa ilaaha illa-Llah,is the tafseer of that verse. Allah said in Holy Qur'an that laa ilaaha illa-Llah is the best of dhikr. To make dhikr or not, it is your choice. He said however, that the best of dhikr is laa ilaaha illa-Llah. But for the Prophet (s), He didn't give you a choice. He said:

Innallah wa malaaikatahu yusalloona `ala 'n-nabee, yaa ayyuhalladheena aamanoo salloo `alayhi wa sallimoo tasleema.
Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.
(al-Ahzab, 33:56)

He gave an order to make salawaat (praising) on the Prophet (s). laa ilaaha illa-Llah is the best dhikr, but tawheed without saying "Muhammadun Rasoolullah" is not accepted. So to praise the Prophet (s) is an order, and laa ilaaha illa-Llah is a targheeb, desirable. But there is a big difference between what is encouraged and what is ordered. For the Prophet (s), Allah ordered you to say sallAllahu `alayhi was-sallam, but for Himself, Allah encouraged us to say laa ilaaha illa-Llah. The dhikr of laa ilaaha illa-Llah fills this dunya, what then do you think about salawaat on Prophet (s)? It will fill from here all the way to qaaba qawsayni aw adna!

Man qala laa ilaaha illa-Llah. laa ilaaha illa-Llah dakhal al-jannah wa laa ilaaha illa-Llah targheeban, dakhal al-jannah. Man qara salaat `ala an-nabee ayn yadkhul? Yadkhul il al-jannah aw yadkhul ila qaaba qawsayni aw adnaa. "When you love the Prophet (s), you remember him constantly. That is the code to open for us the door to Allah's Divine Presence."

Shaykh Ahmad Zayni Dahlan from `Ali at-Tirmidhi relates:
Qala ya'tteee al-`abd yawm al-qiyama wa lay yajid laa ilaaha illa-Llah fil-meezan. "On the Day of Judgment, they will call you to judge you and put all your `amal on one side, and you will look and say,'It is missing "laa ilaaha illa-Llah.'" That means you are in danger. Anta fee khayr. laa ilaaha illa-Llah la tajid al-`abdu fee khatar li-annaka fee maqaam at-tawheed. "But on the Day of Judgment, you don't find 'laa ilaaha illa-Llah,' you find everything you did, but not that. Then the Scale is not balanced and you are in danger."

Fa yaqul al-`abd ya rabb la ajiduha fil-meezan,
"O my Lord! I am not finding laa ilaaha illa-Llah in the Scale, what happened? I didn't find it there." And a voice comes to him, Yaa `abdee! `ala ta`lam anna al-meezan la tas`uhaa. "O My servant! Don't you know that the Balance cannot contain laa ilaaha illa-Llah? There is no way for any Scale that I created to contain laa ilaaha illa-Llah." It is beyond Creation; neither Heavens nor Earth can contain laa ilaaha illa-Llah, it is above all that Allah created.

The evidence is the word of the Prophet (s):
SubhanAllah wa bi hamdihi fills up what is between Heavens and Earth!

Everything is filled for You. What is between Heavens and Earth? The entire universe, including all of the 80 billion stars Allah created, and everything makes dhikr. When you say, "Subhaanallah wa bi hamdihi," that is all written for you. And Allah said:

Lain shakartum, la-azeedannakum.
If you are grateful, I will add more (favors) unto you. (al-Ibrahim, 14:7)

"If you thank Me, I will give you more. That is written for you." O Muslims! I don't like to come and sit here and say, "I am connecting." No, we have to give evidence, not to throw words that people can or cannot understand. Otherwise it becomes shootahaat, a trance-like state, and the one who is saying it doesn't even understand it. They are mentally sick, and now there are too many people like that. They sit like gurus (Mawlana closes his eyes), saying, "Ooohhh Allah! Allah! I am being possessed, being taken over by awliya!” (laughter) Haven't you seen them? There are many like that. What is the benefit? Show humbleness, because this is the level. Why do you have to go to the second story? People are not happy, they cannot keep their head up like that, as if they are being hung, and their neck will be finished. (laughter) No! Say, "I am like you." Prophet (s) said, "I am a human being like you, yooha elayh." It is a different issue but he said that to show us humbleness.

Prophet (s) said:

"Whoever says laa ilaaha illa-Llah when he goes to sleep, his soul will be under the Throne in sajdah."

Say laa ilaaha illa-Llah, with `ishq bil muhabbat (extreme love), not as if you are bored! Proclaim it: laa ilaaha illa-Llah! Allah will be happy. Whoever is saying "There is no Creator except Allah," He will be happy. This is the message of all messages. Hadhihi risalat al-Muhammadiya, an taqool laa ilaaha illa-Llah.

And whoever says it at zawaal, the highest point of the sun at dhuhr time, the power of Shaytan in him will drop. Keep saying laa ilaaha illa-Llah until noon. He is reminding us. Say it when you sleep and continue until noon, don’t stop. It is better than saying, "This one said this or that," or "I will go play soccer, golf, go swimming, send text messages, or play video games." You can see them all day and all night. laa ilaaha illa-Llah is better, it takes you to Paradise, video games take you to Shaytan.

Wa man qalaha `inda ru'yatil hilal ameena min asqamil aqsaam. "And whoever says 'laa ilaaha illa-Llah' upon seeing the first moon of the month will not experience physical illness in that month." Wa man qaalahaa `inda dukhoolee madinatin aamina min fitaniha. "And when you enter a city and say 'laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah,' you will be safe in that city; no gangster or anyone else will harm you, Allah will protect you." Wa man qaalaha abee jam`eehee fikrihee wa arsalaha lizhalimin aw li jairin qata`athu. "If someone says it with focus and meditates, this is meditation." And some people say there is no meditation in Islam!

Prophet (s) said:

تفكر ساعة خير من عبادة سبعين سنة

tafakkaru sa`atin khayrun min ` ibaadati saba`eena sannah.
To contemplate for one hour is better for you than 70 years of worship.

This means focus your thoughts completely. And when someone focuses with laa ilaaha illa-Llah and sends it with a laser beam to a tyrant, and Allah will cut down that ruler for that person; that tyrant will never torture or abuse that person in that city. Wa man qaalaha bi qasrit tuttalo`ee ilal `ulwiyat kashafa lahyu `an ghaybee ma qasada. "And if someone says it with the intention to see a higher level of knowledge, Allah (swt) will open it for him." This is a small summary of "Laa ilaaha illa-Llah, " and we will leave the rest for next time.

So we have to be very careful of how we learn our religion. This is what is important, not to speak about maq`adis sidqin or qaaba qawsayni aw adnaa, because what are you going to understand? You are in First Grade, so what will you do at university? Leave the university and come back to First Grade. This is what people like; ask them, this is what they understand. This is our level. If Mawlana authorizes it, we can go to the higher level, but you cannot put diamonds in the hands of people who cannot understand. Give them candy. Now I think everyone is going to say, "Laa ilaaha illa-Llah " day and night! Inshaa-Allah we will talk more tomorrow about this issue.

Also, don’t interfere with awliyaullah, that is a warning to everyone. If you don’t understand them, leave them alone. If they say something and you try to say something else, then you will be in a problem. You have to be careful. That is another situation we have to be careful in and I will mention what this big Naqshbandi shaykh is saying, Yaa ayyuhal-walad, he is calling everyone "walad," meaning "little boy." Look at how much he is lowering himself. He says, "I am teaching you. I am not seeing myself from the circle of manhood," meaning awliya, "but I am trying to go lower so we all benefit. Although I am not believing myself to be from among alwiya, you have to know I have put my feet in the circle of awliya. I am in that circle, but I am telling my ego I am not." It means if you have to use it, then use it, but be careful, especially from Qutb al-Mutasarrif. Mawlana said, "If that shaykh is angry, I am not responding, so be careful." There are five qutubs under Sultan al-Awliya: Nujaba, Budala, Nuqaba, Awtad, Akhyar. Under Qutb al-Mutasarrif there is a huge group called ikhyaar, "the best of people."They are of the best rank or category.

So the feet of awliya are in that circle of awliyaullah. If they want to move mountains they can, but what for? Your heart, your ego is the biggest mountain. It is impossible to put it down!

وَمَا أُبَرِّىءُ نَفْسِي

Wa ma `ubarri`u nafsi.
Nor do I absolve my own self (of blame).
(12:53)

فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاها

fa-alhamahaa fujoorahaa wa taqwaahaa.
And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right.
(ash-Shams, 91:8)

This means that He inspired the self with what is good and what is bad. Thus, you are under the order of the ego, the self. Awliyaullah want to take that out, and it is the biggest mountain to demolish in the hearts of their students. I am in that circle, Qutb al-Mutasarrif, and not one, but both feet are there. But we do not like to say it because Prophet (s) said:

قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ

Qul innamaa anaa basharun mithlukum.
Say (O Muhammad), "I am only a man like you."
(Surat al-Kahf, 18:110)

If Prophet (s) with his greatness that Allah gave to him, is saying, "I am a human being like you," then what is the description if that wali? He is in qaba qawsayni aw adna in every moment, not only at the moment when the ayah (verse) came down. As much as he moves forward, there is qaba qawsayni aw adna, it never ends!

Therefore, the wali has power, but they don’t use it. He said, "I am his servant, I serve them food at their tables." What is their food? Not what you are eating. "I am the minister in their cabinet, at their doors. They authorize me, permit me to taqseem, distribute crumbs of their mawaaid, spiritual food. "And they are ordering me to give the crumbs that fall down to those who are in need. If you want it, you take it."

We are all in need of these crumbs, but the shaykh has the cabinet to which he has given full authority for distribution. He is not going to give you as they give in the government. How many ministers are there in the government? Everyone has a position. Also, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) has ministers under Qutb al-Mutasarrif. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) has five qutbs. Three of them are known and two of them will be known in the time of Mahdi (a). And the rest are the ones who have `ijazah; it is not a complete ijazah; as we said yesterday, it is to lead dhikr, but not the ijazah to distribute the crumbs from the shaykh's table, his spiritual feast.

That is enough for tonight. There are three issues you have to be very careful about, to make sure you are not falling into problems with Mawlana Shaykh. You have to avoid three issues that we will discuss next time. So if you like to come and double your , please come. They are very important to listen.

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

Inshaa-Allah, this is a happy and good year for you, as Mawlana said yesterday. He likes to see everyone with a black turban because inshaa-Allah, inshaa-Allah, inshaa-Allah, he said this year is Hajj al-Akbar. Imam Mahdi (a) will not come except in Hajj al-Akbar. The next Hajj al-Akbar will be in seven years, but the world is boiling. So stay in your home and keep your turban. There are many ahadeeth about the turban, so keep the turban, even a small one like our Egyptian friend here. The color black means "majestic." May Allah forgive us and bless us.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
