Don't Spoil The Fast of Ramadan!

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani (q)

18 Sept 2009 - 29th Ramadan 1430AH - Jumu`ah Khutbah

As-Siddiq Institute & Mosque, Burton, Michigan

Alhamdulillah. Ayyuhal muminoona...(du`a)

O  Muslims! O believers! Ramadan is ending and Allah (swt) is happy with His servants, that they have fasted Ramadan, where Prophet (s) said in authentic hadith, "Fasting is for Me and I will reward for it. He will take the  fasting and turn it into rewards. You must be happy that Allah swt gave Ramadan. In Ramadan in the last ten days Allah will release you from Hellfire. The last ten days will be innocence from hellfire. Allah will release you and when Ramadan ends....what people do? Some pray, some don't maybe they pray at home. Sunnah mu'aqqadahit is sunnah before Dhuhr, best time after Ishraq by 1 hour. After prayer what they do? Usually they go roaming in streets, might be not in this country. Although they were roaming before sitting around the coffee cups and people drinking, eating, smoking, talking and looking. And not giving importance of what Prophet (s) said. That is why it is very important to say .... people say, let us take our children for picnic but important to say what hadith Bukhari and Muslim say.

People are ignorant; there are thousands of ahadith beside what Imam Bukhari and Muslim wrote, every moment he was speaking to Sahaba, there are so many authentic ahadith out there. So this one is from Sahih Muslim. Prophet (s) said:

Iyyakum wa 'l-juloosu fi 't-turuqaat  - I am warning you avoid sitting in coffee shops around street. Are you doing that? Yes we are not only drinking, putting one leg on another having a cigarette and blowing smoke on each other face because in street you can smoke...in Muslim countries they bring sheesha and smoking it, backbiting everyone. This is the reward for Eid because they fasted and now they have to do that. Prophet (s) said I am warning you don't sit on street but they said ..."O Prophet, we cannot stop that, this is our own meeting area, we have to sit and complain". Look, how dare they speak against, instead of saying sami'na wa aat'ana. They said we cannot then Prophet (s) lowered it because if Prophet (s) prohibited and they did then difficulty for them. So what Prophet (s) said, "fa idha abayatum illa al-majlis fa-`atoo at-tareeq haqqah -  if you insist that you want to stay and keep this meeting area in street by drinking coffee or anything give the right of street if you sit there."

Many scholars say don't sit in restaurant, if a hungry person passing by the negative energy will effect you the jealousy, the envy that goes from one to one, you are eating and they are not. You are wasting food, this envy is reflected on you and that is why you get sick more often. They eat out more...hire a cook better than to go and cater outside. If you cater then know from who you are catering if that cook has full ablution or not. If that person is junub means he did not take shower, that food is poisoned. If that cook is angry, your food is poisoned to eat it. If that one, who is cooking with a salary, but the owner does not give permission to eat his eyes will look and your food is poisoned. He might go to toilet and not wash hands, this food is poisoned. Shaytaan says don't wash hand, for them ablution is not mentioned. It is a backward thing of Muslims. There are many disciplines we have to follow in Islam.

He said if you have to meet in cafe then give the walkway a right. "What is the right of someone walking in the street?" They asked, "O Prophet", he said, "ghadu 'l-basar", keep your eyes down, don't backbite". Who can sit on walk way and keep eyes down? You travel your eyes in good journey looking at everyone and try to criticize all in front. Which means you cannot sit on walkway. Unless you are sincere ad drink with head down with a straw. So that is something you remind people. It is ridiculous trying to eat with your head bent down and you cannot look right or left and that means that the Prophet (s) was giving them a hard time with sitting there.

Today you go and see people sitting on streets everywhere. After, you keep your eyes down make sure you don't harm anyone. Sometimes boys or girls are naughty they want to pass comments to people, "why this one is wearing high heels?, Why this one is having a turban?, Why this one is having a beard"? He said don't harm and spread false rumour and he said give salaam and accept salaam back. People today they don't say salaam or are afraid to say to someone. Salaam is sunnahOnly if they know you. How I know, you don't have sunnah clothes? In eastern countries they have big box at entrance of masjid.  Many, many hats like white ones, people, come and cover their head to pray, at least with sunnah, to identify you as Muslim. Now no one knows Muslim on street, very different behaviours. I saw in Sri Lanka a plastic hat, coconut hat, mango hat, apple hat, all kinds of hats. Make nice smell. To give salaam, if you don't know how you give salaam? To call for good and avoid bad. Means you have to tell yourself the bad desires and tell other people to avoid so I will end with this.

Prophet (s) said,أفضل الجهاد كلمة عدل عند سلطان جائر - afdhalu 'l-jihad, "The best of jihad." Today they use this word for many things in a wrong way. In the hadith as identified by scholars there are fourteen different jihad, one is against aggressors and thirteen against yourself. Prophet (s) said, "The best of jihad is to say "kalimatu `adlin `inda sultaanin jaa'ir - to say a just word in front of a tyrant;" to say a just word, a good word, to remind him of the bad things he is doing. Who is that tyrant? That is you first, as there is evilness in yourself, that small clot that Shaytan enters. It means we are doing things against what Allah (swt) and Prophet (s) ordered. So we have to say a just word against those who are attacking us.

May Allah (swt) guide us to follow the way of Prophet (s) and Sahaba (r) and give us our reward and change imitation fasting into real fasting. Ameen.

I say this and ask Allah Almighty's forgiveness for me and you and for all those seeking forgiveness. Praise be to Allah and peace and blessings upon His Apostle, Prophet Muhammad and his family, and companions of the Prophet out of respect and honor to His Excellency's high status, the Chosen One. ."(33:56)

God bless, send blessings on Your Prophet Muhammad, who has forbidden his nation Hellfire. He is the Pride of the Arabs and non-Arabs, the Master and Protector for the Two Worlds, the most respected master, Abu 'l-Qaasim Muhammad (s). O those who yearn for the light of his beauty and stand in need of his intercession, send blessings on him and salute with all respect. Allah exalt our master Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You have exalted Ibraheem and the family of Ibraheem! In all the worlds, verily You are the Praiseworthy, and Exalted. And bless O Allah, our master Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You have blessed Ibraheem
and the family of Ibraheem! In all the worlds, verily You are the

Peace and blessings of Allah be upon our master, Muhammad, and his family and companions.

*****

O Muslims, as-salaamu`alaykum! It is the first or second day of the Islamic year. May Allah make this a happy Islamic year for all of you and your families. It’s an honor for me to be here today in this masjid (mosque) to see these beautiful people, and to say that wherever you go now these days, with Allah’s (swt) will, you find a masjid. And maybe in the same street you might see many masaajid, not only one. I was passing by one of these streets, and they told me there is a masjid here. We moved five minutes, and another masjid. We moved five minutes more, and another masjid. They told me in this district alone there are 19 masaajid.

Alhamdulillah, everywhere around the world, you will find a masjid and will you find that people are praying, and there are not enough masaajid. There is one masjid overseas, it can take 150,000 people inside, and outside it can take 100,000 people, musalli. So it can take a total of 250,000 people at this one masjid in Jakarta, Indonesia. Allah (swt) is inspiring His sincere servants to build masaajid and decorate them, not like Wahaabi masaajid where there are no writings in it, they look like a warehouse. There are many masaajid today that are like warehouses. Allah revealed Qur’an to humanity filled with honors, filled with decorations for Ummat an-Nabee (s). It is full of favors that Allah is besrowing on the Ummah. So a masjid has to look nice so that when people come, they would like to sit, not like a warehouse, where you enter and want to run away.

O Muslims! We have to go back to our roots, to what Prophet (s) taught his (s) Sahaaba. He didn’t emphasize on one thing, but he made the religion to be of different regions, different means, and topics. Today we are trying to make the religion one topic and we are limiting our ability to understand Islam to one topic, which are the five pillars. We say that Islam consists of the five pillars, but we don’t continue, we stop at that.

Sayyidina `Umar (r) mentioned the hadith when Jibreel (a) came to see Prophet (s) and to ask questions. Sayyidina `Umar (r) related that a man appeared in front of the masjid, entering the presence of Prophet (s). He was someone they didn’t know, he was a stranger. Prophet (s) said in the end, it was Jibreel (a), “He came to teach you your religion.” So this means that religion is within this hadith. Jibreel (a) asked Prophet (s) about three issues on religion that complete each other: man islam wa man imaan wa man ihsaan. You cannot take one and leave the rest. Today we are taking one and leaving the rest. Why do we have to leave the rest when it is a completion of the base, the structure of Islam?

When you built this mosque, for sure, you had a structure to build the masjid on. You cannot put this roof without having a structure, then there is no way to hold it. So Prophet (s) gave the structure of Islam and built on it the other two important columns. How many dimensions are in this world and this universe? Three dimensions. In this religion, how many dimensions are there? Three dimensions: islam, imaan, ihsaan (five pillars of Islam, six pillars of faith, and to worship Allah [swt] as if you see Him). You cannot have one dimension and leave the other two. You have to have the full dimensions.

So Jibreel (a) came and said, “Yaa Rasoolullah, yaa Muhammad!, maa al-Islam?” And everyone knows what Prophet (s) said: the Shahaadah, five prayers, zakat, fasting, and Hajj,. These are the five pillars, but your structure is not complete. You have the floor and the walls, but you cannot live without a roof. The roof for all of that is `aqaa'id, belief, imaan. Amantu billahi wa malaa`ikatihi wa kutubihi wa rusulihi wa bi 'l-yawmi 'l-akhir wa bi 'l-qadr. You have to believe in the roof; that you are going one day, because `aqeedah (belief) is the most important. You have to close that structure. It cannot be closed without real `aqeedah. That’s why the Imams came with `aqeedah, they taught us that. Prophet (s) taught the Sahaaba (r), and we are not at the caliber of the Sahaaba (r) to understand well. We need Imams that will be like an intermediary for us.

Allah (swt) inspired the Four Imams of Ahlu ’s-Sunnah wa ’l-Jama`ah. First Imam Abu Hanifa (q), second Imam Malik (q), third Imam Shafi`ee (q), and fourth Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (q). Allah inspired them to simplify our `aqeedah for us. It is not so easy to put the structure correctly, to put that roof correctly. You cannot have half a roof. Then rain or snow will come in and then you will be in a problem. So they came as Imams and gave us that simplicity in explaining, so that we may understand with our limited capacity, what Sahaaba (r) understood from Prophet (s).

We are not Sahaaba (r), companions of Prophet (s). They were hearing him, “Sayyid al-Bashr” (s), Master of Humans. They were hearing directly from “Huwa 'l-Habeeb” (s), the Beloved One. There are no two, as Imam Busayri (q) emphasized when he said huw al-habeeb, and there is no other habeeb. Imam Busayri understood the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s). No one can say that they are “Habeebullah” (beloved of Allah) except Sayyidina Muhammad (s). Imam Busayri meant, “You don’t need to go anywhere else, as there is no (other) habeeb."

We can say, “Muhammad (s) Habeebullah (Muhammad is Allah’s Beloved)” and we can say, “Allah Habeebu Muhammad (Allah is Muhammad’s Beloved).” You can say, Ibraheem Khaleelullah (Ibraheem is Allah’s Friend)”, but you cannot say Allah Khaleel Ibraheem (Allah is Ibraheem’s Friend).” In Arabic, it is considered impolite. Allah is not Khaleel Ibraheem, but Ibraheem (a) is Khaleelullah. That is a big difference. Allah gave that reality and honor to Sayyidina Muhammad (s), whose grandfather is Sayyidina Ibraheem (a), Khaleelu ‘r-Rahmaan. There is one habeeb (beloved) and we must follow him (s). All of them take from Prophet (s). Either you take big quantities from the ocean, or you take a handful; it depends on your capacity. Our capacity is a handful. Whatever high level of knowledge Imams reach today, their capacity of understanding Shari`ah is minimal compared to the Sahaaba (r); there is no comparison.

The Four Imams came to introduce to us Islam so we may understand it. They came with `aqaiq. They said that first you have to fix your `aqeedah. If you have a wrong way of understanding Islam, then your `aqeedah is not perfect and you have to perfect it. Insha`Allah, all of Ummat an-Nabee (s) can perfect their beliefs, to understand what is accepted and what is not. And the most important precept is, you cannot say to Muslims that they are kafir (non-believer). Whoever says and believes la ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah will enter Paradise, not Hellfire. This means all of Ummat an-Nabi (s) is ummatun marhooma wa ummatun maghfoora - a nation bestowed with mercy and a forgiven nation. With the shafa`ah that Allah (swt) gave to Prophet (s), he will take his ummah with him to Paradise and he is not going leave behind any of his ummah who are on the real `aqeedah. Even those who were on false `aqeedah will say, “Yaa Rabbee, bring us back to normal `aqeedah.” Because they are our brothers and sisters, we don’t say they are kaafir; that is Allah’s judgment, not ours.

So our building needs a structure, meaning it needs the five pillars of Islam, which you must learn completely. But your building is incomplete. To complete it, you need Maqaam al-Imaan, the Station of Faith, which consists of six pillars that you must complete. Now you have a structure, but it is empty, with no carpets, chandeliers, calligraphy, and décor, so when you enter it you feel very content. Not like entering a ghost house with no writing on the door, nothing written inside like Allah (swt) and Muhammad (s). So then what do you need? You need to decorate your building that you have built on Maqaam al-Islam (five pillars) and Maqam al-Imaan (six pillars).

Jibreel (a) asked for us to learn to decorate our building, our hearts. If the heart is beating, the person is still alive, even if they are in a coma. Some comatose people may be brain-dead but their heart is alive. We have to decorate this heart, the place of focus for everything, as Prophet (s) said, “Verily there is a small flesh that if one is fixed and healthy, the whole body is healthy, but if it is dead and sick, the whole body is sick.” What does Prophet (s) mean? There are two meanings. Keep your heart healthy and your body will be healthy. Do not overeat. I am sorry to say that when many others and I are invited to eat, we eat as if we have never seen food in our lives. We eat too much! Prophet (s) said, “We are a group of people who don’t eat until we are hungry. If we eat, we don’t eat to be full; we eat less than a full stomach in order to keep healthy.” He (s) said, “Stomach is the center of illness.” Most illnesses result from overeating. Before they didn’t have the facilities we have today; Allah (swt) favored us with this knowledge. Also, don’t waste! Today what we throw away is more than what we eat.

So Prophet (s) said that if the heart is healthy, your body is healthy and if it is not healthy, then you are sick. Also, if the heart of your soul is healthy, then you can get these spiritual inspirations. “Allah inspires the self,” as He said in Holy Qur’an, “the bad things for the soul, and the good things, the purity, the sincerity in the soul.” You have to choose one, because Allah gave you a choice. What do we choose? Do we choose the wrong or the right? We have to choose the right. For the soul, you have to choose the right one.

That’s why Jibreel (a) asked Prophet (s) to clarify to the Sahaaba (r), “What is ihsaan, yaa Rasoolullah?” This is the continuation of the hadith. We have islam, imaan, now Prophet speaks of ihsaan. Why did Jibreel (a) say imaan and then ihsaan. We have the five pillars of Islam, it’s enough; he doesn’t need to mention about imaan and ihsaan. This means we need to perfect our religion besides the five pillars, as through the `aqaa'id, the moral excellence and good behaviors, we may reach Maqaam al-Ihsaan. What did Prophet (s) answer? When Jibreel (a) asked that question and Sahaaba were listening, it was something new for them. “To worship Allah as if you are seeing Him.” Can you see Allah (swt)? No. But Prophet (s) is giving them so much meaning, that if you really think you can see Allah, how much would you need to worship in order to be in the Divine Presence? You can see Allah (swt) in akhirah, in Paradise, so work for it. You cannot come with a dirty heart. You cannot pray on this beautiful carpet when there is some dirt on it, you have to clean it. You cannot say Allahu akbar with a dirty heart, and enter the prayer with your mind somewhere else.

Maqaam al-Ihsaan is not easy. It is Maqaam Tazkiyyat an-Nafs, the Station of Purification of the Self. Allah said to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) in Holy Qur’an, “Take from them sadaqah, a donation to clean them with,” which can be voluntary worship, or anything. Prophet (s) makes any excuse to please on our behalf, “Yaa Rabbee, I need to clean them! They are my Ummah, and You gave me shafa`ah. You said to me, ‘Take from their wealth a donation to clean them.” So when you approach Prophet (s) with something, he asks, “Yaa Rabbee, that one approached me with good, so purify him.”

Allah said, “To clean them and to purify them.” What do you do after cleaning? You purify. Take a dishwasher for example, what does it do? It cleans the dishes. After it cleans, it dries them with high heat to sterilize them, meaning they become pure. You eat from those dishes and you will get no sicknesses. In some restaurants they only clean briefly and pass germs from one to another. And that’s not enough. Allah said, “Then make du`a for them. Your prayers upon them will give tranquility in their hearts.” So Maqam al-Ihsaan, the spiritual level Tazkiyyat an-Nafs, is to remove bad manners and behaviors.

You cannot say Allahu akbar and think about how to cheat and lie: it’s not going to work. When we say Allahu akbar, we go to the Presence of Allah (swt). How do you behave? Prophet (s) said to Sahaaba (r), “Worship Allah as if you are seeing Him.” In reality what you are seeing is the Oneness of your Lord. You can see the greatness of His Creation, an indication of His Presence. “Worship Him as if you see Him.” When you are seeing Him, you cannot lie. Then Prophet (s) said, “If you are not able to see Him, still He sees you.” Allah (swt) sees what we are doing. So clean your money, yourself, and your family with your donations, which can be anything.

Jibreel (a) continued, asking Prophet (s), “Tell me about the Day of Judgment.” Prophet (s) said, “The one who is asking knows more than the one who has been asked, yaa Jibreel (a). That is for Allah (swt).” Jibreel (a) said, “Then tell me about the signs of the Last Days.” Are we in the Last Days? Unfortunately, none of our `ulama (scholars) today speak about the Last Days. (According to signs narrated in ahadith) We are now in the Last Days. Prophet (s) taught the Sahaaba (r) the importance of the Last Days and the appearance of the false messiah, Maseeha ‘d-Dajjal. Sahaaba (r) used to think that the Dajjal is coming in their time. So today no one is warning or preparing us about the Last Days, and Prophet (s) mentioned it in the most famous, most important hadith of Ahlu ’s-Sunnah wa 'l-Jama`ah and all Muslims, known as “hadith Jibreel”.

Jibreel (a) said, “Tell me about the signs.” Prophet (s) said, “You will see the barefooted, naked Bedouins competing in building tall buildings. At that time, deserts will be turned into tall buildings (high rises).” We see that today every where you go in Muslim and Arab countries, what Prophet (s) predicted 1,400 years ago. That is a sign for us to clean and purify ourselves, there is no time. At any time Allah (swt) will send the Angel of Death to take our souls, so what will happen? And there is no time, Prophet (s) predicted in the hadith. You go anywhere today in the Arab countries, especially where Prophet (s) mentioned "jazeeratu 'l-`arab"—Persian Gulf States,  bilaad al-Hijaaz, Najd—where they are building higher than the Ka`aba! In the time of the Ottomans, the Turkish dynasty built structures with small domes and they made sure not to build them higher than the Ka`aba, out of respect. Today that is not the case.

I am not saying just anything, I am quoting evidence from the hadith of Prophet (s). What are we waiting for to repent? O Muslims! Our duty is to repent, to be good individuals in the community, to be careful of this new trend of violence and terrorism. We have nothing to do with it. We have to declare it openly! We don’t want Ahlu 's-Sunnah and the Muslim community to be under investigation. We want to say, we will not cover anyone. Whoever does something wrong, it’s their problem. We are peace-loving people. We carry flowers with us, we don’t carry explosives! Anyone who likes to come to us will get sweets and candies.

May Allah (swt) forgive and bless all of us. May Allah keep this and other
masaajid growing.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, w 'as-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi ta`ala wa barakaatuh.

Stand Up for the Love of Sayyidina
Muhammad (s)

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

29 October 2009    Jakarta,
Indonesia

Salloo `alayh! Salloo `ala
an-Nabi! Salloo `ala an-Nabi! Allahumma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alayh.
Allahumma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alayh! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi,
Sayyidina Muhammad! Allahumma salli `ala Sayyidina Muhammad.
(Crowd
responds) Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi!

As-salaamu `alaykum wa
rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.

A`oodhu billahi min
ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem.

Ati`oo 'Llaha wa ati`oo 'r-Rasoola wa uli ‘l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey His
Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (4:59)

`Alayna `itaat-ullah wa
`aitat-habeebihi 'l-Mustafa, wa `ita’atu  uli 'l-amr.

We have to obey Allah (swt), obey Prophet (s) and obey those
who are in authority. And we are under the roof of this masjid, which means we
have to obey. Our obedience goes to the owner of this house, and the Owner of
this house is Allah (swt); innal
masaajida lillah - Masaajid
are for AllahAl-masajidu lillah fa `alayna `itaata saahib hadha 'l-masjid wa saahibu hadha 'l-masjid huwa Rabbuna `azza wa jall araada lakum an yakoona masjidan li 'l-mu’mineen
wa 'l-muslimeen.
He wanted this place to be a masjid for a mu’min and Muslim.
Allah (swt) created, khalaqas samawati
wal araadeen,
created this universe and He made this universe that He owns,
under His order. And He made it pure, as He said (in Holy Qur’an), He made the
Earth pure that you can pray wherever you like. It means this universe is pure
and wherever you direct your face, Allah (swt) will answer you.

Ya ayyuhal Muslimoon!
Ayyuhal Muslimoon! Itaqulaha wa 'aateeoo, wadrifood-dumu fid-dunya wa la
tudrifuha fil Akhirah. Da‘maatun waheedatun fid-dunya bi-mahabatillah
tunajeekum min-adhaabillah.

O Muslims! This dunya
is ending and Akhirah is coming. Make tears in your eyes. One tear in your eye
in dunya will save you in Akhirah.

Sayyidur-rasool,
Sayyiduna Muhammad (s)
. (Mawlana stands.) …Allahumma Salloo`ala an-Nabi! Allahumma Salloo`ala an-Nabi! Allahumma
Salloo`ala an-Nabi! Salloo`ala an-Nabi!
(Response from crowd, Allahumma salli `alayh!) (Mawlana sits.)
An-Naabiu (s) yastahibu fee kulli
mahfil an’ nuwaqfi bi ihtiraamin wa ijlaal wa nusalli `alayhi wa yaqifoona
mina 'l-azzali ila 'l-abad.
It is his right that all Muslims around the world
stand up always and praise Sayyidina Muhammad (s), from pre-Eternal to Eternal.
But unfortunately we lost that, we lost it, we lost that love to Prophet (s). I
am not here to judge you, it might be that I have to judge myself. I am lower
than you, and you are higher than me. Why? Because you are coming to listen and
I am coming to speak. Speakers are arrogant, speakers….(sound cuts) ..you are
humble because you are listening and you are not claiming you are something…(sound
cuts)… May Allah (swt) take that arrogance away.

Ayyuha 'l-Muslimoon!
Afshoo as-salaam wa at`imu 't-ta’aam wa qoomoo bi 'l-laylu w 'an-naasu niyaam.

O Muslims! Say as-salaamu
`alaykum
to each other when you see each other, give food to homeless
people, give food to everyone as Prophet (s) said in this authentic hadith: Afshoo as-salaam , say, as-salaamu `alaykum. By saying as-salaamu `alaykum to each other Allah (swt) will be happy with you. Allah (swt) said
to the Prophet (s) and the Prophet (s) said to us, Afshoo as-salaam, it means keep saying as-salaamu `alaykum. And who is the one that deserves all the time,
day and night, to say, as-salaamu `alayka
Yaa rasoolAllah?
It is Sayyidina Muhammad `alayhee afdalas salaatu was salaam! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi! Ash-hadu an
laa ilaaha illa-Llah wa ash-hadu anna Muhmmadan Rasoolullah!

Afshoo as-salaam,
when we say, as-salaamu `alaykum, it
means we are accepting each other. If he is saved (holds Shaykh Mustafa’s hand)
in the Day of Judgment, he will save me with him. If I am saved, I save him
with me, and think about everyone when you say, as-salaamu `alaykum, it means if you are saved, you will save
everyone with you.

In at-tahiyaat
when we are praying, our prayer is not accepted if we don’t say, as-salamu ‘alayka ayyuhan Nabi, and not
only that, (we must say,) wa rahmatullahi
ta’ala wa barakaatuh.
You have to say; “Salaam
to you yaa Muhammad (s), and rahmatullah laka yaa Rasoolullah, and
Allah sends His mercy on you, O Prophet.”  Then we say, As-salaamu `alayna wa’ala ibdilahis saliheen,
Salaam to us and to everyone.” You
know what happens when we say, As-salamu
`alayna
, who is `alayna? `Alayna
is plural not singular; it means as-salaamu
`ala kulli musalli, alladheena yusalloon
, to whoever is praying our salaam will reach without us knowing.
Allah (swt) makes it to reach every Muslim when we say, As-salaamu `alayna wa `ala `ibadillahi 's-saliheen,` ibaadillahi 's-saaliheen, are few. It means, “Yaa
Rabbee!
We are sending salaam to
Your beloved one, Sayyidina Muhammad `alayhi afdalas
salaatu wa 's-salaam.
(Mawlana stands.) We are sending love and salaam to Sayyidina Muhammad (s), we are
sending salaam to ourselves, to all
Muslims and to all those who are sincere.”

As-salaamu `alayka Yaa
rasoolullah! As-salaamu `alayka Yaa Habeebullah! As-salaamu `alayka yaa man ikhtarahul-Lah!
As-salaamu `alayka Yaa Taahir! As-salaamu `alayka Yaa Mahi! As-salaamu `alayka
Yaa Haashir! As-salaamu `alayka Yaa Aba al-Batul! As-salaamu `alayka Yaa Rasool
al-Malaahim! As-salaamu `alayna wa ala `ibadilahis saliheen! Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha
illa-Llah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluh! `alayha nahya wa `alayha
namuut wa `alayha munka-Llah!
(Crowd repeats.)

We are sending that salaam
to the Prophet (s). Do you think it reached or didn’t reach? Of course it
reached the Prophet (s)!!! As-salaamu `alayna
is plural, so it means we are including everyone. When you include everyone,
will Allah (swt) not include them? Of course Allah (swt) will include them! So
as if we are saying to everyone, as-salaamu
`alaykum by hand, and they are saying to us by hand, and that is why on the Day of Judgment, when we say, Yaa rasoolullah... Sahabah used to run around Prophet (s) and come another time, next salaam then they go, and they come
another time to make salaam. They go
and (say) another time because when you say salaam,
Prophet sends them salaam. Prophet’s salaam is not like our salaam, it is a heavenly salaam, a salaam that can purify us from all sins. That is why Allah (swt) ordered
us to make salawaat on Prophet (s). Allahumma Salloo`ala an-Nabi!

Look at all these lights. How many lamps are here? Might be
100, 200 bulbs? Every one is shining. Is it correct or not? Every lamp is
shining but the electricity source is one. But every lamp is different, might
be this one is 100 watts, the other one 200 watts, the other one 50 watts, the
other one 10 watts; it is different, but they are all shining because of that
original source that gives everyone light. Salaam
is coming from one source. Allah (swt) said in the Holy Qur’an:

Yaa ayyuha ‘l-ladheena aamanu Salloo`alayhi wa sallimu tasleema.

Send salawaat and
send salaams to Muhammad (s).

It means that light is coming to the Prophet (s). Inallaha wa mala`ikatahu yusaluna `ala an-Nabi,
that light from Allah and His Prophet is coming, and salaat wa salaam to Sayyidina Muhammad (s). When
we do salaat wasalaam to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) we get that light in our hearts.
Our hearts will illuminate like a lamp. If we have a strong heart, spiritual
heart, purified heart, clean heart, we might get 1000 watts. We might have a
spotlight like in a stadium light, or if we are weak in our belief, it will be
like a night light. So keep your heart like a stadium light, don’t keep it like
a night light.

That’s why as much as you make salawaat, you receive light to your heart. If we don’t do salawaat then our heart is dark. Your
heart is getting that light and that light is let out on the Day of Judgment to
be released, you will be like stars on a dark night shining, everyone is shining
like a star, mu’mins, believers,
pious sincere servants of Allah (swt) that do salawaat on Prophet (s). They are going to be stars in darkness
shining, and everyone is going to see that and say, “These are the believers,
these are the ones that supported Sayyidina Muhammad (s).”

(Mawlana stands.) O Muslims!! Support Sayyidina Muhammad (s)
and support his religion!! Say, Allahumma
Salloo`ala an-Nabi! Allahumma Salloo`ala an-Nabi! Allahumma Salloo`ala an-Nabi!
Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu
akbar kabeera w 'alhamdulillahi katheera wa subhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi bukratan wa aseela.
Always you must be supporter of Ahlu 'l-Haqq! You must be
supporters of Ahlul Haqq! Ahlul Haqq are the lovers of Sayyidina Muhammad (s). Allahumma sallu’ ala an-Nabi! Allahumma Salloo`ala an-Nabi! Allahumma
Salloo`ala an-Nabi
!

O Muslims, we are under obligation, it is fard al-‘ayn and fard al-wajib, it
is an obligation to make salawaat on
Prophet (s) in every second of our life, but we are not doing it. Because Allah
(swt) ordered us to do it by saying ... in every breath we are breathing, must
be with salawaat. With every breath
we are giving out, must be with salawaat.
Why? Because Allah (swt) said, Inallaha
wa mala`eekatuhu,
“Allah and His angels, yusaloon (are
praising and making salawaat
continuously).” Allah is sending salawaat
continuously, without stopping, from Bahr ul-Qudra, the Ocean of Power,
sending to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) every moment salawaat. Allahumma salli `alayh!
Salawaat, salawaat.

(Mawlana stands.) Allahumma
salli `ala an-Nabi, Yaa Sayyidi, Yaa rasoolullah! Yaa Rahmatal lil’alameen, bee
shahaadati ahlil-Llah wa bee shahaadati-Llah! Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah
wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasoolullah `alayha nahya wa `alayha namut wa `alayha
munk-ullah.

Shaytan is not happy! He is angry now for sure, because you
are doing salawaat on his enemy. He
thinks his enemy is Sayyidina Muhammad `alayhaa
afdalatu was ‘salaam. Yes, Sayyidina
Muhammad (s) is his enemy. (Mawlana stands.) Sayyidina Muhammad is after
Shaytan! Sayyidina Muhammad is after Shaytan! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi! Allahumma
salli `ala an-Nabi!
(Mawlana sits.)

Shaytan is an enemy for us, the hidden enemy. The only way
that we can cut his neck is by salawaat.
When he saw that light of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) on the forehead of Adam (a), Shaytan
was jealous. When he knew that Allah promised to give to Prophet (s) in Maqam
al-Mahmood, when he saw that Maqam al-Mahmood going to Prophet (s) and not to
him, Shaytan was jealous. That is why Prophet (s) said, “After azaan ask Allah for me Maqaam al-Mahmood.” Allahumma
rabba hadeehidh ta’ama was ‘salatil qaa’eema  atee Sayyidina Muhammadanil
waseelata ‘wal fadheelata wadarja rafee’aa waba’tala humma. Yaa Rabbi, Maqaam
al-Mahmood aladhee wa ‘atta innaka laa-tukhliful mee’adh.

When Shaytan knew the Maqam al-Mahmood is going to Prophet
(s), he became jealous. He was after Adam (a) to bring him down to Earth. He was
our enemy!! Open your eyes!! There are hidden enemies from Shaytan and there
are human shaytans! You have to be
careful!! There are human shaytans
that don’t like Muslims, they don’t like mu’mins,
and they don’t like sincere people. They are after us, so we have to be
careful, we have to open our eyes, we have to show them that Islam is the
religion of love and mercy, the religion of moderation, and the religion that
denounces terrorism!!!

In ad-deena
‘indala-hil Islam,
“Religion to Allah is Islam.” We have to show that to
them. It means jealousy comes from Shaytan. If someone is jealous from a mu’min
because he sees that a mu’min is good, he wants to make himself higher, that
arrogance comes, “Why do people like this one, and they don’t like me?” It
begins fitna. Don’t get jealous from
each other because jealousy is from Shaytan. He got jealous from Adam (a) and
he made him to eat fruit from the forbidden tree. Jealously might take us as mu’mins and Muslims to fall in the trap
of Shaytan. That is why Allah (swt) revealed to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) Surah
al-Falaq (Surah 113).

(Mawlana stands.) Allahumma
salli `ala an-Nabi! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi!
(Crowd responds.) Yaa Sayyidi, Yaa rasoolullah! Yaa Habeebullah!
Ii’inaaka Yaa rasoolAllah! Allah
(swt) revealed Surah al-Falaq, and at the
end it says, Wa min sharri haasidin idha
hasad,
“(Protect me) And from the evil of the envier when he envies,”
because when someone gets jealous or envious of someone else, for sure you will
be affected.

Afshus salaam wa atri
mut-ta’aam.
It means, “O Muslims! Feel with each other. Make relationships,
don’t hate each other, don’t be against each other,” like some people see a
Muslim’s success and they hate him. They try to make fitna for him. So by giving food you make familiarity. Atri mut-t’aam; not only physical food,
but spiritual food. Spiritual food is as important as normal physical food.
Spiritual food is for the soul and the heart; physical food is for the body. If
you give, like in this majlis adh-dhikr,
that is spiritual food and Sayyidina Muhammad (s) mentioned:

(Mawlana stands.) Allahumma
salli `ala an-Nabi! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi!
Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar wa 'l-` izzatu-lillah wa li rasoolillah, wa 'l- mu’mineen! Allahumma’aj ‘al al-kuffaara Yaa Rabbana, Yaa Allah hataban li
naari jahannam ayy al-kufru feenaa.
That hatred, that kufr within us, that we are not
submitting yet to Allah (swt), may Allah (swt) throw it away from our bodies and
make us clean by saying, Allahu akbar,
Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa lillahi ‘l-hamd!

That kufr… what
you do when you eat food, what you do after food next day? You go to the
toilet, to make wudu, it means you take all the vitamins of the food and all
the poison goes away. Also spiritual food takes all the spiritual poison within
our hearts—that hate, enmity, aggression, arrogance, pride, lies, deviation—it
takes it away from our heart when we say, Allahumma
salli `ala an-Nabi,
or when we say, Allahu
akbar,
or when we say, Bismillah
‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem,
or when we say, Astaghfirullah,
or when we say; whatever we say from Asmaa al-Husna (Allah’s Beautiful Names
and Attributes), or from the Holy Qur'an, or from the holy ahadith, Allah (swt) takes all the bad sins that we are doing and
purifies us and keeps us clean that day!

In the Hadith
un-Nabi (s) about majlis adh-dhikr:

Lil-Lahi mala`ikatun yaatoofoona
fi 't-turuqaat yaltammisoona majaalis ad-dhikri,
Allah sends angels to go through
every district, in every street, in every mosque, looking for those who are
sitting in a majlis ash-dhikr, like
this majlis. Angels will encircle
above them, above them, above them, above them until they reach the heavens. It
is narrated by Bukhari, yatoofoona
fi 't-turuqaat
. It means those angels are searching, moving in streets and
searching home-by-home, and even if one person is sitting by himself doing dhikrullah or reading Holy Qu’ran or hadith, they will come and be with him,
and they will be over, over, around him, around him, in circles and circles and
circles up to Heaven. Even for one person, imagine for some group like this,
5,000 people, 3,000 people, 2,000 people. Yadullahi
ma`al jama`at, Allah’s
Hand is with the jama’ah and when you pray with jama’ah,
your prayer is multiplied ten times more, 27 times more or 700 times more, when
you make a hasanaat. So what do you
think about all these people? If you add all their rewards together you have to
multiply it and it will be given to everyone of us in this association!

When the Prophet (s) says, “They will become like circles
until heavens,” it means they have to go through all this universe to reach Heaven,
it means how many circles they are doing? It means how many angels Allah is
creating every moment to encompass all these people up to heavens? Look at this
group here, if angels come here to encompass all of us according to our number,
might be 3,000-4,000 people? Whatever number of people there are, it means you
need a circle of 3,000-4,000 angels for one circle, second circle 3,000-4,000 angels,
third circle, fourth circle, fifth circle, hundredth circle…how many billions
of circles you are going to have filled with angels in order to reach heavens,
because it is beyond the universe? It is beyond this galaxy. This galaxy has 80
billion stars!! They found thousands of galaxies. In every galaxy Allah knows
how many billions of stars there are. It means angels in every sitting, and if
we sit like this every day, every day new angels will be created, encompassing
us, reaching all the way in the heavens. That salawaat, istighfear, tasbeeh, etc. will be written for us, for these
people, so just imagine!

That is why coming to majlis
adh-dhikr
like this, coming to it is
a huge reward for us because who brought you here? You think by yourself you
came here? Allah (swt) sent you here, the love of Sayyidina Muhammad sent you
here (Mawlana stands), the love of awliyaaullah sent you here! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi! Allahumma
salli `ala an-Nabi! Allahumma salli `ala an-Nabi!
(Crowd repeats.) Salloo`ala Muhammad! Salloo`ala Muhammad!
Allahumma salli `ala Sayyidina Muhammad! Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu
akbar, wa 'l-`izzatu lillah, wa li-Rasoolihi, wa li 'l-mu’mineen!
(Mawlana sits.)

Allah brought them here, love of Sayyidina Muhammad brought
them here, love of awliyaaullah brought them here, and love of Islam brought
them here. Allah (swt) said, Wa lain-shakartum la-azeedanakum - If you thank Me, I give you more and more
and more and more,” and bring you more, and reward you more and keep you in the
presence of prophets more.” At`imu 't-ta`am, give that spiritual food as physical food. If you give physical
food, you make relationships and if you give spiritual food like from this
association, you make them to feel the love of Allah (swt), the love of His
Prophet (s) and love of His awliyaa (q).

أيها الناس ، أطعموا الطعام ، وأفشوا السلام ، وصلوا الأرحام ، وصلّوا بالليل والناس نيام ، تدخلوا الجنة بسلام

ayyuha 'n-naasu at`amoo't-ta`am wa afshoo 's-salaam, wa salloo bi 'l-layli wa 'n-naasu niyaam, tadkhuloo 'l-jannata bi 's-salaam.

Afshasoo 's-salaam,
it means make salaam between each
other; know each other. When you know each other, invite each other to your
home, give food, purify yourself. So make salaam,
purify yourself, then we come to the third one, Wa salloo bi'l-layli w 'an-naasu niyaam - and pray during the night when people are sleeping.

It means, “When you are ready now come to Me.”
Prophet (s) is saying in that hadith, Wa salloo bi'l-layli w 'an-naasu niyaam,, “Come to Me and pray to Allah (swt), come to My door,
to the door of the Divine Presence, the door of Allah (swt), come and pray
there, there you are going to be granted the reality in your heart.” Allah
(swt) is saying, “When people are wasting their time sleeping, you are doing
your prayers between My Hands.”

O Muslims of this country! I went all around the world, and the
best Muslims are you! You fill up the masaajid,
you don’t keep the masjid empty. You, mashaa-Allah,
are so good-hearted. May Allah (swt) grant you the best! And the secret, there
must be something in Indonesia, why people are so attracted to the love of the
Prophet (s) and to the love of Islam, to love of Qur’an, and to love of Allah
(swt). There must be something! I know from my shaykhs giving me that reality,
that information through my heart, that you are related somehow to the Prophet
(s), either by marriage or by father or mother, that you are the centers of
Sayyidina Muhammad `alayhi afdala 's-salaatu wa 's-salaam.
(Mawlana stands.) Salloo`alayh!
(Crowd repeats.) Salloo`alayh! Salloo`ala
an-Nabi!

Because Islam came to this country mostly from `Adan (Aden), from Hadramawt from Yemeni people, and most
of them are Ahlu 'l-Bayt. So all of you are part of that because they have their
children, their grandchildren, great-grand children, marriages from different
regions with each other. So this secret of Prophet (s), from the center is
spreading in this country. That drop that you have in your blood, might be one
drop of that blood of Prophet (s) in the heart of people will attract them and
bring them to such associations and such meetings. That’s why you see hundreds
of thousands, when we go to Istiqlaal Mosque, on Friday or in majlis adh-dhikr, you will find hundreds
of thousands attending. I never saw in my life something like what I saw here
in Indonesia.
May Allah bless you all!

We are Ahlu 's-Sunnah
wa 'l-Jama`ah.
I am a descendant of the Prophet (s), Hassani and Hussayni. No one
has rights to put any doubts in my relation to Prophet (s). No one has the
rights to say if we are real Muslims or deviated Muslims. We are strong lovers
of the Prophet (s) and we do not accept anyone to say one word whenever we do
extra salawaat and extra nafl! We can do nafl at any time we like, and we can do salawaat at anytime we like!!! If someone does not like that, let
them go to Hell, we don’t care!!! Some people think that, “Oh, too much salawaat on Prophet (s) is not
acceptable; this is kufr, too much.”
Some people say too much nafl not
accepted, that it is not written. You are stupid! Did you not hear the hadith of
Sayyida Ayesha (r), “Yaa rasoolullah, Allah (swt) has forgiven you from all your
sins past and future, (although there is no sin on Prophet [s] but for us to
learn), and you are praying until your feet are swollen.” Prophet (s) said, “Don’t
you want me to be a thankful servant, alaa akoonu `abdan
shukoora
?”

If you pray nafl
as much as you like, no problem, even in every moment in your life praying nafl is okay, it is sunnah, and making salawaat
is okay. We say shahadah, they say shahadah, we do five prayers, they do
five prayers, we fast Ramadan with the country that we are living in, when they
fast, we fast, when they break fast, we break fast, we give zakaat, they give zakaat, we make Hajj, they make Hajj. Okay, you will be safe, we
are safe—there is no difference: we are Muslims. But if I do more nafl, no one has a right to ask me why!
If we do whatever that we see is fit to praise Sayyidina Muhammad (s), no one
has a right to say no!

Salloo `ala an-Nabi!
Salloo `ala an-Nabi! Salloo `ala an-Nabi!

We refuse anyone who uses our name or our pictures to
establish recognition for himself or herself. If people use our name, we are
not responsible. Don’t come and say we are responsible. It is not our
responsibility to be always monitoring people who are using our name. Many
people might use our name wrongly. We are not liable for that. We say it to those
who are listening, and they know who I am speaking to: we are responsible for
the books that have been published in the Indonesian language by the
publishers, big publishers, Sirambi Publishers. These books we are responsible
for: Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrines
and Belief,
and the Guide Book on
Tasawwuf
and Approach of Armageddon.
Other than those books, it's not our responsibility. It's your responsibility
and the responsibility of the people who wrote these books, who did wrongly,
expressed themselves and quoted us wrongly. We denounce that in public and we
say we have nothing to do with it. These books that have been written by some
amateur, not by a professional, and they don’t know anything about Islam. They
used some words from the Internet without knowing what they are doing. They
have to go and burn these books in public and we are not responsible except for
our books that have been translated to Bahasa by Sirambi: Encyclopedia of Islamic Belief, Approach of Armageddon, and the Guide Book.

I am saying to Majlis Ugama: any suhbah we didn’t give any
permission to any individual to translate, to speak on our behalf, no one has that
right and no one has the right to quote me or quote Mawlana Shaykh, NO WAY!
Anyone who does that is responsible for what he did, it’s not our
responsibility and I denounce such work, I do not accept such books, they have
to throw them and burn them and I am saying it in public so they can hear it! I
know there are some people from themselves, they are here in this meeting
tonight. What is the problem? It's Shaytan who wants to make fitna. Just now we spoke about Shaytan.
Shaytan wants to make fitna. Don’t
let Shaytan to enter between Muslims.

May Allah (swt) forgive us! May Allah (swt) bless us! (Mawlana
stands.)
