The Dress of Honor Is from Heavens

Madad ya Sayyidee!

(Mawlana stands)

As-salaamu `alaykum `ala `ibaadillah. Hasbunallah, rabbunallah. Hasbunallah rabbunallah. Hasbunallah rabbunallah. Highest respect and glory to most honored and glorified one in Divinely Presence, Sayyidina Muhammad (s) (du’a Arabic). Ya Rabb! To follow enlightened road, direct road, for reaching Allah Almighty's heavenly dominions. And we are saying a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem, bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem. We are asking from the honor of the most honored one Sayyidina Muhammad (s), to follow enlightened road, the direct road for reaching Allah Almighty’s heavenly dominions. (Mawlana sits.)

Just today, O our listeners, I lost my eyeglasses but today I found it. (Mawlana puts on eyeglasses.) And this also making me to look down, not to look forward. Doesn’t matter. As-salaamu `alaykum to our respected listeners, that you are giving a time for listening. You are not listening to me, no. I know nothing, I am but a weak servant. What my master granting and ordering to me to address to you, it is only my mission. I am not expecting from you any material aspect, no. What my Lord granted to me is more than enough, more than enough. Why I am asking anything from creatures or from Mankind? What should they give to me? If the Lord of Heavens asking to grant to me something, may some ones (…sound cut)…and they are bringing to me mindly or bodily aspects as His commands.

O My listeners, I am not joking. We must take every event seriously. When not taking seriously we are losing, here and Hereafter. O people, through my master, to whom masterhood of this world granted to him (s), because there must be someone looking after this world from heavenly centers and to control. Longerly or widerly (the master) must look. And he may do his mission through command of the Lord of Heavens. And his Lord, Allah Almighty, ordering something. It is suitable that Allah is not giving a heavy burden on His servants, but His orders are only so light and so easily and so useful. Every heavenly command is making people to be strong ones, to carry heavenly orders and to fulfill it as much as possible. Therefore, if Allah Almighty dressing on one person in this world, he may do everything according to commands of Allah Almighty, fulfilling it.

As we are looking and seeing a huge aircraft carrier, one person commanding it and that gigantic carrier is fulfilling it. That huge, gigantic carrier is running in that direction, which the small captain is ordering it. That gigantic aircraft carrier is obeying to a man, and that man looks like a finger beside his bigness. Yes, when Lord of Heavens giving an authority and dressing masterhood for this planet, it is enough. “Do!” He says. “I am ready, O my Lord,” (that one answers). What He is asking to do, through His holy command, I may move this planet in different directions; it is not difficult for me.

SubhaanAllah, sultaan Allah maa `adhama shaanak Ya Rabb! You are so great one, (there is) no measure for Your Greatness, Ya Rabb, and that is what I am saying. What my master is sending to me according to heavenly commands I must obey. I don't know anything, but if he is sending to me I may speak and my speech is going to have an affect on the souls and their physical beings. If that person's intention is good, it will bring good results and will give more heavenly support as well, as heavenly lights coming through his heart. That light showing to that person from east to west from earth up to heavens, so powerful!

Biggest telescope is in America under command of one astronomer, moving, and every direction that it is directed, showing this, this, this. What about holy ones’ position, whom they have been granted heavenly powers to show people what it is right and what it is wrong? Therefore, we are in need of such a master. Without masterhood, you can’t reach to anything. I am a simple person and I know nothing, but they are ordering to me to address people. And I am never thinking if I can do that or not, because it is not my capacity. You by your common knowledge can’t address to the whole of humanity. It is so difficult. But it is… I am here as a translator only; what they are giving to me, I am translating. Therefore, I am not carrying any burden, and I am not getting hamm (worry); I am not worrying about what I am saying today.

But Shaytan saying, “Oh shaykh, finished for you today. Finished what you know. Tomorrow finishing. Why you are sitting and addressing people?”

I am saying “Get out! Get out! I am only a tap, not pub.”

Same form, but so long distance. I am not pub, but I am a very humble tap. Even drops coming, it is enough. One drop from them feeds the whole world. What I am saying, or what they are making me to speak, one day’s speech may be enough for those who are thirsty for learning realities of this Creation, and I may give a low dosage. I am sitting here as a person sitting through any gathering and speaking. Anyone who likes to speak may speak. I may say to His Holiness the Pope, “You may speak.” I may say Chief Rabbi, “You may speak.” I may say to Dalai Lama, “Come, address people daily without reading books. What it is inside, say to people. What you are knowing teach to people, make them understand.” Because people are asking for someone to teach them something that they are thirsty for. I am saying “thirsty,” and I am remembering that I must drink a little bit because I am thirsty. (Mawlana sips water.) Bismillah, shukr alhamdulillah!

Therefore my listeners, as-salaamu `alaykum! If you don’t like what I am saying, come and you may speak. I am listening. I am not getting angry. I don’t like people who are seeking truth to object and refuse what I am saying, because my heart is connected with heavenly masters’ hearts!

As-salaamu `alaykum, O our listeners! Yes, as Allah Almighty is asking, you must listen and you must try to be intelligent ones. People on this world going to be into two classes. One class of Mankind are intelligent ones, but very few, and second class are idiot ones—countless, countless idiot ones!! Whom are not asking for truth, they are all idiot ones! But intelligent ones, they are clever ones, enlightened ones. But mostly people their identity is idiot ones. There is a place on your identity card for identity, it is written, “engineer,” or “captain,” or “businessman,” or “Minister of Parliament (MP),” or WC member (joke). When you are looking at people, they should find this, such an identity point to give a description for that one. Now people, intelligent ones and idiot ones, means “stupid ones,” and stupid ones means they are rubbish ones! Look what is good for you; which side going to give you an honor here and Hereafter? So easy. Look at yourself. If you are intelligent, you must hear, you must listen to heavenly addressings. And intelligent ones, looking, hearing, and walking. But stupid ones, or idiot ones, they never taking any care. Their importance is only to eat and drink, and to ride on their female ones and nothing else. They are not thinking anything except what they are eating or enjoying, or to enjoy through sexual actions. They are on the level of animals, not same level, but their levels coming lower. Animals’ level is going to be higher than them, yes.

Therefore, O our listeners, you are welcome here to make a show from myself. But I am not trying to show people something that gives me for some days or for some months a pleasure, no. Therefore, we must be sincere. Sincerity is most acceptable characteristic from servants. Sincere servants, they should reach high stations. Whom they are not sincere, they are munaafiq, hypocrites who should be thrown down.

Welcome to you! You think that if you are giving a short time for listening such a thing and you may say, “Doesn’t matter, we know what he is saying.” Yes, but this saying is more strong, more powerful, that you are running after it. From this you can take a heavenly respect and honor by giving a short time for listening. The Lord of Heavens ordering angels, “Dress them in the Dress of Honor.” The Dress of Honor is not the Marks & Spencer shirts, trousers and jackets (from famous UK dept. store). No, it is not dress of honor.

O people! Try to dress in the Dress of Honor. Mankind in this world always following new fashions. For what? Because they think if they are using new fashion clothes, that clothes giving them an honor, that it is Dress of Honor. “Honor” as you understand in this world is among people looking to your clothes and saying, “Oh, that is such an honored one.” Particularly high-ranked person, they are using (a worldly) dress of honor. If they have been granted from kings or queens or sultans, they are thinking that it is giving them honor on their clothes. But we are trying to make people understand that the real Dress of Honor, you can’t find it on Earth, but it is coming from heavens. Is it true or not, O Your Holiness, Pope? Is it not true what we are saying, O Chief Rabbi? What do you think? They are saying “Yes, yes sir.” No one can refuse (what I am saying), that Dress of Honor is not coming from Earth. Holy people know the Dress of Honor coming from heavens, not from Earth.

I was, once upon a time, first traveling to London. Someone took me to the Tower Castle, where they are showing so many things that belongs to passed-away kings and queens as their crown and their royal clothes. And I was standing and looking at one of the tour guides, asking him, “You are saying this belongs to Her Majesty, Queen Victoria, and this crown belongs to His Majesty King George V.” I reached to his reign and also his Silver Jubilee. I was an elementary school student and always first in my class, and granted to me was a medal for the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of late King George V, may Allah (swt) from His endless oceans give them.

We are asking for everyone happiness. We are asking for everyone through this life and after this life for eternal life, to be happy, to reach peace, and to reach endless enjoyments and lights in their Lord’s Divinely or heavenly levels! Yes! O people, give a time (to listen to these live broadcasts) and don’t run away! Today we learned something. It is enough, may be enough, but when you are planting a plant you must give water. You must also try to water your minds, your understandings, and your feelings.

O people, it is not an ordinary words what I am saying, and I am requiring from the chiefs of nations and the chiefs of holy ones, to address people daily. But they are addressing. Don’t think the Lord of Heavens closing down for them if they are addressing every day!

May Allah (swt) forgive me and thank you, my listeners! I am not asking for any rank, for any honor in this life, no. I am asking honor for heavenly levels of the Lord of Heavens. May Allah (swt) forgive me and you, and make us to live according to His holy commands, (then we will be in) endless satisfaction and honor and pleasure and enjoyment and lights forever! Allah (swt) is The Great, and His most beloved one is most praised, and His holy prophets are on their ranks and glorifying Him! Ameen.

Fatihah.

Mawlid Must be in Every Moment and with Every Breath
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
20 October 2009   Melaka, Malaysia
Mawlid an-Nabi and Suhbah after `Isha

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

Inshaa-Allah make this place a place of barakah, a place that du'a is accepted. When you do Mawlid, what is the procedure to do the Mawlid? It is to prepare the people in order that they love their Prophet (s) more and more. And to give them something sweet that the people feel happy with. The recitation of the Mawlid is to remember that Islam is Muhammad (s). If there was no Muhammad (s), there would be no Islam. Inna ad-deen indallahi al-islam, means "Islam is Muhammad (s)." as he is the Seal of Messengers. As Allah (swt) said, "Remember Me, I will remember you. And thank Me and don't be disrespectful and ungrateful of what I am giving you." When Allah (swt) gives you something, you have to say shukran lak ya Allah. You cannot do anything except praise Him.

What is the best that Allah (swt) gave humanity? The best Allah (swt) gave humanity is His mercy.

Wa rahamtee wasi`at kulla shay wa sa-aktubuhu lil-ladheena yataqoona wa yootoonaz-zakaata walladheena hum bi-aayaatinaa yuqinoon.

My mercy has encompassed everything. I am going to give it to those people who are believers, accepting Allah (swt) and they are praying. (7:156)

So Allah (swt) wants to show the best of His mercy. If you are sick, you say, "Ya Rabbee, be merciful with me." If you are in a problem, you say, "Ya Rabbee, be merciful to me." So, whenever we have a problem, we say, "O our Lord, send mercy on us." If there is any disaster, people out of their mercy, go and help. Allah (swt) sent Muhammad (s) mercy for you. "Verily we have sent to you, mercy for everyone" wa ma arsalnaka illa rhamatan lil-alameen.

You are chemist, if you put in the formula: Muhammad (s) = mercy. If you breathe, it is mercy. If you see, it is mercy. If you hear, it is mercy. If you feel, it is mercy. If you talk, it is mercy. If you have child, it is mercy. All must come from a source of mercy. Who is that? That is Sayyidina Muhammad (saw) and Allah (swt) blessed him with that. That is not shirk. Why do you make salawaat on Prophet (s)? You are praying to him or you are praying to Allah (swt)? Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is happy to be servant to all. So any gesture you make of hamd is praise on Prophet (s).

Inna Allah wa malaikatahu yusalloon `ala an-nabi.

Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect. (33:56)

O mu'min send salawaat, it means, "O our Lord raise your Prophet (s) always higher and higher." As we are his ummah, we will be raised higher and higher. So anyone who doesn't give respect to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is not giving respect to Allah (swt).

One of the big awliya that has passed away, he has a certain salawaat that through his vision, was given to him by Prophet (s) to recite it. And that wali said, "Allah (swt) was so grateful, He blessed me and His Prophet (s) blessed me with this salawaat." Awliyaullah can see and feel. They are not like us, blind. That is why when someone is blind, they think the other person is against them. So Shaytan plays with them to throw false accusation against each other. This happens between brothers and sisters and communities and countries. This is why fighting happens, because the other one is thinking that everyone is against him. So Allah (swt) blessed us with salawaat on Prophet (s).

So that wali said, "Every human being is not able to give the rights to Sayyidina Muhammad (s)." What Prophet (s) is doing for us, no one can pay back.
Don't look at the books and say, "What is Prophet (s) doing for us?" If Allah (swt) wants you to know, it is not going to be in books. What the Prophet (s) is doing for his ummah, no one knows. He said, "I am al-Mahi and I am al-Qassim. I am the one who erases sins and I am the one who divides the provisions to people."

That is why his name is al-Qassim. Wa anaa TaaHaa wa Yaaseen, "And I am TaaHaa and Yaaseen." Yaaseen is the heart of the Qur'an. If you read Surat al-Yaseen, it is as if you read the whole Qur'an. The whole Qur'an is different. The secret of the Qur'an is different. It means, the secret of Qur'an or the interpretation that every verse can carry. Grandshaykh (q) used to say that on every letter of Qur'an, Allah (swt) opened 12,000 oceans of knowledge even if the letter is repeated. How many letters are in the Qur'an? 500,000 letters. The alif is repeated 1,000 times in the Holy Qur'an. Multiply 1,000 by 12,000 oceans of lnowledge. That's what you get when you are reading. And he will not get the same information as for him. There are always angels uploading, to the heart, information. And if he is reading one letter multiplied by 12,000 times and different than the knowledge that he gets.....

Ma nafas kalaamullah. Allah's (swt) word does not end. The interpretations do not end. There are interpretations for every letter. That big wali said, "If I, from beginning of dunya to the end of dunya, standing facing holy Prophet's (s) grave, and 24x7, gave salawaat, I cannot pay back what the Prophet (s) did for me." Imagine, he said, "If I don't do anything, no eating and no drinking, nothing, only stand and make salawaat on Prophet (s) from beginning of dunya to the end, I cannot pay back what Prophet (s) gave for me or for anyone." And, he said, "Allah opened for me a vision."

As awliyaullah have meetings like this meeting. They sit and speak together, even one in east and one in west, with spiritual power, they meet together. Don't interfere in awliyaullah's business. Don't burn your fingers. People are burning their fingers. They are saying this wali is better than this one. How do you know?

اولياي تحت قبابي

Awliyaee tahta qibaabee. "My saints are under My Domes."

من عادا لي وليا فقد آذنته بالحرب

Man aadha lee waliyan faqad aadhantahu bi 'l-harb

Who comes against My wali, I declare war on him.

It means that even any mu'min you speak bad on him, Allah (swt) will declare war on you. So people must open their ears. Remind me to come back to that wali and what Allah (swt) gave him.

Ayyuhhibu ahadakum an yaakul lahma akhihi maytan fa karihtumooh. Does anyone like to eat the raw flesh of his brother? You cannot, it is a disgusted matter.

Two sahaaba came to the Prophet (s) and said, "O Prophet (s), we have been in pain since morning."

He looked and asked them, "What did you eat?" Why did he ask them? Because later in the hadith, it showed he knew.

"We didn't eat anything."

"Yes, you ate. You ate raw meat." Look, we have so much food on our tables and, still, we are eating the flesh of our brothers and sisters.

They said, "We never ate meat. We are poor."

Yaa ayyuha alladheena aamanoo 'jtaniboo katheeran mina adh-dhanni inna ba`da adh-dhanni ithmun wa laa tajassasoo wa laa yaghtab ba`dukum ba`dan ayuhibbu aahadukum an yaakula lahma akheehi maytan fa-karihtumoohu w 'attaqoo Allaha inna Allaha tawwaabun raheem

O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful." (49:12)

People have to repent. If people think they are Muslim, they must behave as a Muslim; not as a non-Muslim. You just told me, today, that your father asked you before you get home to go see your neighbors. This is Islamic behavior. Other than Muslims, they don't know who is their neighbor.

So these two came and said, "Ya Rasoolullah, we have stomach pain." He is the doctor of medicine. He is the knower of everything.

He said, "You ate raw meat."

"We didn't eat."

"Put your fingers in your throat and vomit." They vomitted raw meat with the blood in it.

They said, "This is something strange. Ya Rasulullah, we didn't eat meat."

He said, "You backbite your brother. You spread rumors."

It is easy to spread rumors but difficult to fix. In the Day of Judgment, Allah (swt) gives all your good deeds to the one you oppressed. Grandshaykh (q) used to always repeat this verse: wa man `afaa wa aslaha fa ajruhu `ala Allah. Don't try to take your revenge. Allah (swt) will take it. The one who `afaa, forgave, and aslaha, made peace, Allah (swt) will reward him. You make the intention, it works or didn't work, that person will be rewarded. Those who do not accept, they will be punished a severe punishment. Prophet (s) extended his hand to other ummahs. He was praying 18 months towards Masjid al-Aqsa. Why? He knows there is Ka`abatullah.

Wa jazaao sayyiatin sayyiatun mithluhaa faman `afa wa aslaha fa-ajruhu `ala Allahi innahu laa yuhibbu azh-zhalimeen.

The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof, but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Verily, He likes not the oppressors. (42:40)

He is trying to gain their favor, their trust, and to extend his hand to those not believing him, by saying, I pray towards what you are praying in order
to show love and respect. In order they will come, but they didn't come. Some came. So our intention is to forgive and make peace. They accept, they accept. But people they don't know build assumption on what they heard. Like for example, Shaykh Hisham doesn't like Mawlid group. You heard that rumor. That is going around. You heard it? No. He doesn't like to make Mawlid. He only likes to make suhbah. How stupid! Every breath, if not for Prophet (s), you will not breathe. Every breath comes with salawaat, in and out with salawaat. He said, "Ana al-qassim. I divide the provision." It is not against Shari`ah. That is what Allah (swt) gave him. `Alamoo anna feekum rasulullah. Know the Prophet (s) is in you. I never saw Grandshaykh (q) doing Mawlid. Bring one to say "He did like that." We used to recite on Mawlid an-Nabi, yes. But he said, "Every movement you make must be Mawlid an-Nabi." These people only understand what they are seeing.

And know that, among you there is the Messenger of Allah (saw). If he were to obey you (i.e. follow your opinions and desires) in much of the matter, you would surely be in trouble, but Allah has endeared the Faith to you and has beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger saw) hateful to you. These! They are the rightly guided ones." (49:7)

When we make du'a for food, we offer as Mawlid for Prophet (s), Mawlidan sharaafatan li 'n-Nabi, Mawlid is honor for Prophet's (s) birth. We will be written as if we are, where? As if we are present on his birthday. Awliyaullah know secrets. These dumb people know nothing. When you do Mawlid for Prophet (s), the angels carry you as if you are present when Sayyida Aminah (r) was giving birth and everyone in position reciting tala` al-badru alayna...  It is not just when migrating to Madinah, but when he is coming to dunya. These big people don't have the heart to understand.

So that big wali, Allah (swt) gave him salawaat. It weighs more heavier in the balance than if he had a life from the time of Adam (a) up to Judgment Day and did salawaat on Prophet (s). If you put salawaat of Prophet (s) on the scale and put in the other side of balance; what Allah taught him that will be heavier. These people don’t understand the meaning of salawaat. That is why they say, “O Shaykh Hisham likes suhbah and doesn’t like salawaat.” If I didn’t speak that in suhbah, how do they know it. And, if that author of qaseedah didn’t write it, how are they to sing it? So there must be someone speaking or writing and the other listening and reciting.

What is this Tariqah based on? Tariqatuna as-suhba wa 'l-khayru fi 'l-jam`iyyah. Our way is suhbah as Sayyidina Shah Naqshband (q) said. He didn’t say, “Our way is only performing Mawlid.” Yes, you have to perform Mawlid, but suhbah is important as it will explain to you things. I will give you a simple example, easy to understand. Did you see Mawlana Shaykh (q) sitting all day and drumming? Why is he the head of Tariqah? So did Mawlana do something wrong? What does Mawlana do? He gives suhbah.

All scholars, all imams, and the Prophet (s) himself sitting with Sahaaba and giving advice how to follow Shari`ah and the message of Islam. He didn’t tell them to sit all day and drum and sing. That is for certain. People make us happy through their profession or hobby. But not for you every morning (drums on glass), not so, do you do that? Then you are wrong like me. You don’t like Mawlid. Is it not? It means we are all wrong. We have to, as soon as we open our eyes, (drums) wake up call.

It is good to make salawaat, of course, and it is good to make Mawlid. Yes, of course, but every action, if your intention is to make it Mawlid for Prophet (s), it will be written as if you read whole seerah. Then if you make any salawaat, any way, allahum innee asaluka wa atawajahu ilay bi sayyidina Muhammad (Mawlana gave several examples here), any salawaat, it is written for you as if from Sayyidina Adam (a) to end that you are doing salawaat on Prophet (s). But that salawaat of that wali, he said, “Even you read it one time in your lifetime, it is heavier in scale than common salawaat that people do, even me.

You like to know that salawaat? “Yes!” (audience responds) Do you like to hear it? “Yes!” I think many of you know it, but you don’t know the secret of it. Some they know. Already we have said it many times. That salawaat was dictated, like in a dream. Like Sayyidina Imam Bukhari (?), when he writes hadith, he might travel 3-4 months to get one hadith and return to Bukhara, and before he writes it, he sleeps. Unless Prophet (s) appears to him in a dream and certifies that hadith he will not write it. And he will not put the title of the hadith chapter until he sees a dream and the Prophet (s) gives him that heading. There is a chapter in Bukhari, “Baab al-`Amaaim”, that is the chapter of turbans. Many scholars today wear tie and suit and nothing on their head and make jumu'ah. Or they go to different religious functions, or work as religious officers, with nothing, no turban and nothing on their head. Prophet (s) gave many hadith on ama'im.

العمائم تيجان العرب‏ فإذا وضعوها وضعوا عزهم,  و في لفظ: وعز العرب، ‏

Al-ama'imu tijaanu 'l-`arab, fa idhaa wa`oohaa wada`oo `izzahum. (and in another narration) wa `aizzu 'l-`arab.” Turbans are crowns of Arabs, means Muslims, and who put them up, Allah (swt) will raise. And who put it down, Allah (swt) will put down. Now you see everyone in street with no hat. How do you know if he is Muslim? How can you give salaam? That salawaat that was opened to Sayyidina Shaykh Sharafuddin (q), who was the shaykh of Grandshaykh (q), in his dream, when he was in a trance state of haalat al-kashf, the vision state. He said, “Ya Rasulullah! Teach me something that I can keep honoring you with it." The words that he spoke felt so sweet to the heart of Prophet (s). I cannot repeat the words. He was a big `alim. Grandshaykh (q) had a book that Sayyidina Shaykh Sharfuddin (q) wrote, and we copied that book. I copied five copies by hand when I was young. I took from Grandshaykh (q) and copied.

The original book is now gone, but every page was like calligraphy of du’a. And in that book are the names of Sayyidina Mahdi (a) with his seven khalifah's and together with 47 ministers and together with 59 deputies and silsilah and du’a and verses of Qu’ran that the Ismullah al-`Azham is in these verses. And awliyaullah know that Allah's greatest name is in Awa'il as-Suur, in the beginnings of the surahs. He wrote with his own handwriting very beautifully the beginning of the surahs from Fatihah to Surat an-Nas,  and with all major du’a. And he wrote that salawaat. Many people are doing it but don’t know why. “`Ala afdal al-`alameen sayyidina Muhammadin salawaat...” until the end.

And I think many people know it and they recite it, but they don’t know what it is. You were reciting it? You? No one explained it. Now I came. Why? Mawlana said, “Explain to them, what is importance of mawlid in our hearts.” Not necessary to be drumming. On top of that, there is guitar, we are guitar people, and now flute and saxophone. You know this one? Like nose of the elephant. And all kinds of garbage that comes with these musical instruments. It is okay, as long as people are happy. I am not going to say anything. But don’t accuse people. So that one salawaat is heavier in on the scale. Doesn’t mean: don’t do any salawaat. Keep repeating it and when we do that, we are approaching Sayyidina Muhammad (s) more and more. It means our day and night is Mawlid. It is not just 10, 15 minutes and that is it. When people get together like this, and there is no time to do whole Mawlid, then do suhbah and at end say, “Ya Sayyidee, Ya Rasulullah, this is for you.”

I will tell you why there is no time for Mawlid. Because here, and some other countries, they begin Isha at 9:00 p.m. then finish at 9:30, then do dhikr one hour, end at 10:30 p.m., then suhbah one hour, 11:30 p.m. Then they want to eat, and it's 12:30 p.m., so when can you do Mawlid? If you want Mawlid every day, begin early, at 7:00 a.m. I don’t like staying after Salat al-`Isha. Grandshaykh (q) never stayed after Isha more than one hour and then he went to sleep. Today everything is upside down. They like to stay up to Fajr and talk, socializing, nonsense, and then they sleep just before Fajr. And, most of the time, they don’t wake for Fajr. Which is better? To sleep early and pray Fajr or sleep late and miss it? Is that correct, Muhammad Nazim, you are the one responsible. You wake them for Fajr, they get upset. The way to fix it, is by teaching. Bit-taqrar yu'alim al-himar.

With repetition, you teach a donkey. I am a donkey, in order to learn, and those who like to learn may learn. So Allah's duties, Allah's rights are first, then ours. If you like Mawlid, we like to hear Mawlid, then come early. The first importance is Salat al-Isha then dhikrullah then advice. Without advice, what is the benefit of Tariqah. Tariqah is advice. Anyone wants to do Mawlid, stay late and do. No need to blame. Come early and do Mawlid or do dhikr early. People like to go home. You are keeping in closed doors like sardines. You put 12-15 in cans, there is no breathing, no air conditioning, no fan. What are they going to feel, and you want to keep six to seven hours?! Everything has its discipline. Can you make conference and tell people to come at 11 o’clock? No. You are a teacher of conference. What time do they come? Eight or nine o’clock. You cannot keep people longer than that.

Before it ends, let us get some benefit. It is said in Sahih Muslim from Abu Hurayrah (r) that the Prophet (s) said, “Whoever glorified Allah (swt) 33 times after prayer" Means to praise Allah (swt) by subhaanAllah, and make al-hamd 33 times and make takbir 33 times, "wa qaala tamaam al-miyya to complete the 100 is la ilaaha illa-Llaah wahdahu la shareek lah will be forgiven all his sins." Even if his sins are like the ocean, when the foam comes on the shore how it keeps coming on the beach, means coming non-stop until the Day of Judgment. Allah (swt) will forgive all that, if you recite the 33, 33, 33 and end up with la ilaaha illa-Llaah wahdahu la shareek lah. If we don't read that, we get benefit? Or do we get more from drumming?

We believe in reciting na`at and qasaa'id ash-shareefat an-nabawiyyah. Of course we are Ahl as-Sunnah; Sayyidina Hasan bin Thabit (r) wrote and recited these praises and many of them today are from him. So why did we open that subject? I come and look and you find a lot of small u`yoob, faults. Before those people speak up and say, "O we have to pay attention to Mawlid group. Shaykh Hisham doesn't care for Mawlid, only for suhbah." No, I care for them, and like them to be happy and I like them to be sponsored to be taught how to sing. They have good voices, but don't have melody. Instead of singing in a haphazard way--one from east, one west, one north and up and down--they need to make it melodious. I am not speaking about that group only, but also the Kuala Lumpur group; when they sing it is not melodious. If an Arab hears it, he gets fed up. That is why I said, listen to him (a murid), but he doesn't have a book to recite. The way of recitation is very important. Now you remember after I finish? But let him say this first. (Recites: Tala` al-Badru `Alayna)

You know the makhaarij al-huroof, when it comes out it is perfect here, because he studied. That is what I like. They have to be melodious. Some say, "You don't like Mawlid". We are, because of very tedious work and hard work, for four years in London. We have been invited to Trafalgar Square in London by the mayor of London to do Mawlid an-Nabi and fifty-thousand people attended and you can see it on QTV. We brought Mawlana Shaykh Nazim's name up! And what they did--those people sleeping--who criticize us and those around them. They have to know their limit or else Allah (swt) will punish them!

Leave Anger

Leave Anger

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
15 October 2009 Singapore

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem.
Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.
Nawaytu ’l-arba`een, nawaytu ‘l-`itikaaf, nawaytu ’l-khalwah, nawaytu ’l-`uzlah,
nawaytu ‘r-riyaadah, nawaytu ‘s-sulook, lillahi ta`ala fee haadha ‘l-masjid.

Ati` ullah wa ati' u 'r-Rasoola wa ooli ‘l-amri minkum.
Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you.
(4:59)

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuh.

Alhamdulillahi Rabbi' l-`alameen. Allahumma salli `ala Sayyidina Muhammad.

Always we have to know that as much as we do, still we are like an ant. The movement of an ant. People, they try their best, but Allah (swt) is happy with them. Because they are trying their best. But still we need to do more, as much as we are doing, we need to do more. Sayyidatuna Ayesha (r) said to Sayyidina Muhammad (s), "Ya Rasulullah! Why are you praying so much, and your feet are swollen and Allah (swt) has given you everything?" He said, "I want to be a thankful servant." It means to thank Allah (swt). Are we thanking Allah (swt) every moment in our lives? Or, are we trying to speak against each other, backbite? And in the Holy Qur'an, Allah (swt) says, "If you thank Me, I give you more." So thanking Allah (swt) is not to miss such events, because Allah (swt) gave you the opportunity to such events and you are coming.

Don’t look at me, I have a turban and I have a white beard and a long beard. That doesn’t mean anything. What matters is sincerity. If Allah (swt) is happy with you that is what is important. It’s not what you speak. There are thousands to speak, but what is the benefit. Like Sayyidina `Abdul-Khaliq al-Ghujdawani (q), he left dunya 1000 years ago. He asked his student to go to the cemetery to take example from deceased people. You know that story. So he went. He ordered him to go to learn. We are coming here to learn. I am not making myself a teacher. I am lower than anyone here. And I ask, "Ya Rabbee keep us under the feet of our shaykh, to be under the feet of Sayyidina Muhammad (s)." So don’t think I know more than you. No! As Prophet (s) said in a hadith, "Might be a curly haired, dusty person, if he asks, Allah (swt) will answer him immediately because of his piety."
So Sayyidina `Abdul-Khaliq al-Ghujdawani (q) (gave us an example). Look at the adab, how we have to be careful every moment in our lives. Don’t say, "I organize lectures for speakers." فَلَا تُزَكُّوا أَنفُسَكُمْ wa laa tuzakoo anfusakum - Don’t try to give high evaluation for yourself (53:21) and, إِنَّ النَّفْسَ لأَمَّارَةٌ بِالسُّوءِ - inna 'n-nafsa la-amaaratan bi's-soow - truly the self is always calling to evil. (12:53)* Allah (swt) said, "Don’t make yourself to think the Self (ego) is high."

Wa idh ta-adhdhana rabbukum la'in shakartum la-azeedannakum wa la'in kafartum inna `adhaabee lashadeed.

And remember! your Lord caused to be declared (publicly): "If ye are grateful, I will add more (favours) unto you; But if ye show ingratitude, truly My punishment is terrible indeed." (Surah Ibrahim 14:7)

Don’t give a high evaluation of yourself. You are nothing. He created you from a clot in the womb of your mother. You didn’t do anything. It's Allah’s favor on you.
"If you thank Me, I give you more." People come saying, "I have this problem." What do you have to do? Thank Allah (swt) that He didn't give you a different problem. Everyone has difficulties. That’s why, when you thank Allah (swt), He relieves you. In our order, they gave to us to recite shukran lillah 100 times daily and 500 times daily, alhamdulillah that we are from Ummati Muhammad (s), and 500 times daily alhamdulillah that we are not from a different nation!
So with `Abdul-Khaliq (q), when I say mureed, it means a real mureed with all the characteristics. Are we? No. It is not easy. We are muhibeen, lovers. Sayyidina `Abdul-Khaliq (q) ordered his mureed to get knowledge from the deceased people. He did not yet reach Maqam al-Mureed. But `Abdul-Khaliq (q) wanted him to reach. So he went to the cemetery, and the door was locked. He tried, but could not open it. He saw someone sitting on the fence.
The man asked, "What are you coming to do?"
"I came to visit, but the door is locked."
The man said, "You want to see whom?"
He said, "My shaykh asked me to go visit the deceased."
Sayyidina ``Abdul-Khaliq al-Ghujdawani (q) informed Sayyidina Khidr (a) , "I am sending this mureed of mine, teach him."
awliyaullah can reach their people without telephone. So the door opened. Sayyidina Khidr (a) (the man on the fence) was waiting. The mureed entered inside one grave there. Like I was visiting Shaykh Zakaria (q). Fatiha for him. Thousands of graves were there, in that cemetery, where the mureed was sent. In any case, the first grave standing and that man said, "SubhaanAllah." Sayyidina Khidr (a) wants to bother him, wants to check him.
"This man left dunya young. He didn’t reach more than 3 years, died an early age."
That mureed looking angry, but did not want to say anything, because anger is kufr. When someone gets angry, it is as if that someone is out of Islam. May Allah (swt) forgive us.

Don’t get angry. Are you getting angry? "Yes." (everyone answers) For sure. Angry in the way of Allah (swt) is okay, but against your wife or brother is not accepted. Be patient. So that mureed was patient but angry. He said, "How are you saying he died at age 8. This reads that he died at 83." He said, "You are young. I know more. This one died at three years." Like Abdu 'sh-Shakoor here. From outside he keeps it cool, but anger inside. Ibrahim is more. Gets quickly upset, but he is eldest, we have to respect. Second grave, five years of age. Ages were different at each grave; the third grave, fourth grave. He never found anyone that reached maturity. All of them under ten years of age. Might be Abdu 'sh-Shakoor one day. (laughter )
Shaykh Zakaria (q) was an angry person, but with Mawlana's barakah, he went as a wali. They dressed him. awliyaullah have that power to speak on their behalf and dress them on moment of death with all kinds of beautiful dress. Not one person from mureeds of Grandshaykh (q) but that Grandshaykh (q) said, "I will be standing by them when they pass from dunya." So alhamdulillah those from the mureeds who pass away, are going to Paradise. He said, "On the shape of a hand, (with the Name) "Allah" written on it, he can see that white hand coming and "Allah" is written on it, his soul immediately leaves the body and jumps into the light." That is a specialty, or you can say a grant, to Grandshaykh (q) and Mawlana Shaykh (q) from Allah (swt). So their souls will not be taken, except through looking at the light and taken away.

So awliyaullah, no one can understand their power. You see this crowd here, next week, they might drop to 50 people when I am not here. But anyone who came this week and he did not come next week, an angel will be representing him. Someone comes on your behalf, and they dress you. In this tariqah, don’t think it is simple. Very quickly, it gives reward with barakah of Shaykh. Say alhamdulillah that Allah (swt) has granted us to be in presence of Sultan. This majlis is presented to Prophet (s) every Thursday. And, if they don’t come, some angel will represent them.
So, we go back to the story that Khidr (a) kept bothering him. This mureed was so bothered. He went back to Shaykh ``Abdul-Khaliq al-Ghujdawani's (q) presence. And he looked. He saw that man sitting next to the shaykh, but in that presence he was, no self, in full submission. He is not caring for anyone except connecting to his shaykh, making muraqabah. And Sayyidina Khidr (a) was saying, "Ya Sayyidee what kind of a mureed you have?" More tests. "He doesn’t want to learn. I opened to him the cemetery, but he doesn’t want to learn." Giving him a hard time.

What would happen if it happened to you? You would get angrym saying "He is coming to my shaykh, speaking bad about me." But he is making it up to humiliate him in front of the shaykh. That is not easy. It is difficult. That is why Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) says, "Don’t come to me complaining, because it is not adab." To go and complain will make the mureeds get sad, because people are picking on them. But that mureed, he didn’t care what Sayyidina Khidr (a) was saying. He was connected with the heart of the shaykh. Then Shaykh `Abdul-Khaliq (q) said "This one, is the worst one I have. Because I don’t want him to contaminate others so I sent him to the cemetery." That mureed did not care, only happy to hear his name on the lips of his shaykh.
You have to know awliyaullah pick a mureed and shout at him because they want the others to hear. They teach to others with one. So Grandshaykh (q) used to say, "The best characteristic is when the shaykh curses the mureed and the heart doesn’t change. Straight forward."

So both Shaykh `Abdul-Khaliq (q) and Sayyidina Khidr (a) were attacking, but that mureed did not care at that time. Prophet (saw) appeared to them and said, "Enough! Give him his amaanah." At that time, all six powers of the heart were opened to him, and he entered Maqam al-Mureediyya. What are these six powers? We all have them, but we are not trying to use them. We don’t have the trust. We didn’t get it. When you get it, then you see the benefit. The six powers, Allah (swt) gave that specialty to everyone. The mureed began to see what people cannot see, he began to hear what people cannot hear. Why did the Prophet (s) ask for that to be opened to him? Because his heart was with the shaykh. Wherever you throw him, he comes back. Many times, Grandshaykh (q) scolded us, "If I shout at you, come from the window!" Don’t say the shaykh "shouted"; that is not adab. You come through door or through the window - you play with him because they like that.
One time in the 70's, I was with my brother passing by the masjid, and we passed under Grandshaykh's bedroom. We were passing, and we were hearing the screaming. When he was shouting, it is not like Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q). This one was very loud. We became glued on the footpath. We were worried that we will be shouted at, so we stopped under the window. We heard him shouting, "I don’t want to see you here anymore!!!" We thought, "Who is that one having difficulty with Grandshaykh (q)?" And from the corner of wall, it was Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q). We were shy, but he was laughing as if nothing was happening. We were half an hour there. We didn’t know where to go. Then he came out, and said, "Go up." Soon as we entered, he said, "Hisham, Adnan, come here." (laughter) We entered trembling. What would happen? It is Mawlana, we don’t know why we are trembling.
He said, "This Nazim Effendi hayaranee is making me astonished. How much I tried to shout at him, by order of Prophet (s), but his heart never changes and break him down. I shout but you never see any anger in his eyes. I am looking at his heart and his eyes, no traces of anything. He is not hearing what I am saying, and this is making me more angry. That is what I like."
So it is not easy that shaykh shouts at you and your mood doesn’t change. But if you reached that stage and you don’t get angry, you know you reached Maqam al-Awliyaa. It is a very simple check.
So anger is a problem. That is why we repeat that, because if we don’t take it from ourselves, we will loose. Say "shukran lillah, alhamdulillah" all the time and Allah (swt) will take it from you. But we say, "I don’t want to speak with you." Instead say "alhamdulillah." "Alhamdulillah!" when we say that, Allah (swt) is happy with you. When you say something else, Allah (swt) not happy. So if you want to show love to Allah (swt) and his Prophet (s) be content. As Sayyidina Shah Naqshabandi (q) said "Tariqatuna as-suhbah - Our way is companionship." To be a companion, association, is best in the group. As suhbah is to accompany, it means you love him, and he loves you. You cannot accompany someone you don’t love.

Illa tansuroohu faqad nasarahullahu idh akhrajahu alladheena kafaroo thaaniya ithnayni idh humaa fee'l-ghaar idh yaqoolu li-saahibihi laa tahzan inna Allaha ma`ana fa anzala Allahu sakeenatahu `alayhi wa ayyadahu bi-junoodin lam tarawhaa wa ja`ala kalimata 'lladheena kafaroo 's-sufla wa kalimaatullahi hiya al-`ulya w 'Allahu `azeezun hakeem.

If ye help not (your leader), (it is no matter): for Allah did indeed help him, when the Unbelievers drove him out: he had no more than one companion; they two were in the cave, and he said to his companion, "Have no fear, for Allah is with us": then Allah sent down His peace upon him, and strengthened him with forces which ye saw not, and humbled to the depths the word of the Unbelievers. But the word of Allah is exalted to the heights: for Allah is Exalted in might, Wise.

(Surah At-Tawba 9:40).
Prophet (s) saw Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r) sad in the cave migrating from Mecca to Medina. Allah (swt) mentioned in Holy Qur'an, "To his friend, he said, 'Have no fear, for Allah is with us .....'" To be a friend is important. Are you friend to Prophet (s)? Are you a companion? Are you? How? Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r) was with him always. His reality was always with the reality of Prophet (s). And you as Naqshbandi, yes, through spirituality, yes, you are friends, because we are all Sayyidina Abu Bakr's (r) children through tariqah. So to be a friend, is to be with him all that time.

Allah's (swt) words are ancient. His words are not created. So when he said, "Don’t get sad, O my friend. Allah is with us." Allah (swt) sent down on them tranquility, peacefulness. Someone who is a friend with Abu Bakr (r), will receive tranquility. So be a friend of that one. Awliyaullah are not all on the same level. They are not all connected directly to Prophet (s). You must be happy you are connected through this silsila through being friend of a friend of a friend. So find a friend. Who is it? Your shaykh. Find him. When you are eating, when you are working, when you are watching TV, find him. He is near you. You watch TV? People today are watching TV all day. Everyone. It's Shaytan entering every house. Through technology, to spoil the children, all this is negative energy reaching our hearts. May Allah (swt) forgive us and keep us safe always.

Ya Rabbee shukran lillah. May Allah (swt) bless you and keep you always under the wings of awliyaullah to take you to Prophet (s) and to Divine Presence. Ameen.

Start of khatm.

After khatm, Mawlana adds:

SubhaanAllah, going back to the story of visiting the grave. And Khidr (a) said, "This one died three years, this one at five years." He was thinking, "Why Sayyidina Khidr (a) was telling him this, and that they are not yet mature." Because in Sayyidina Khidr (a) way of calculation, it is how much that person has spent in the way of Allah (swt) of his life. It means our life. If you want to count how many minutes, compares to your life, went into remembering of Allah (swt). How old are you? 31 years. So 31 years, but the way of calculation is not by years, it's by breath. How many in and how many out, from first breath until last breath. So how many you have? When this finished you die. They don't count by years; that is dunya way of counting, and the heavenly way of counting is by breath. How many breaths went to remembering Allah (swt)? That is your accumulation of your age. So that is the progress you are doing.

I remember in the 90's, very few people, you remember 1996, 10 people or 15, we went to the King XX Masjid? We were doing dhikr there, but now look, alhamdulillah, it is the continuity of doing dhikr. May Allah (swt) bless. As long as you have a place, you always find it full. May Allah (swt) increase you more in the way of Allah (swt), Prophet (s) and awliyaullah. Ameen.
But you have one shaykh, is enough. Don't try to bring any more, or you will be divided. Keep one. Keep with yourselves, Shaykh Ibrahim, Shaykh Abdu 'sh-Shakoor. So it will work out well, and inshaa-Allah, it will be increasing. I am seeing Dr. Tahir hiding. He was from the first people that invited us to his house in the late 80's. So mashaa-Allah, he is still around, hard-worker, dedicated and many others. And now with the new organized conference by Nasir and dancing, art. He said, "Where is love?" Next day, he will say, "Where is dance?" And then mashaa-Allah, singing group.

Nasir, since he was 15 years old, I know him. May Allah (swt) bless you Abdul-Razak, selling incense and tea. He took me to his store one day. May Allah (swt) forgive all of us. Now there is a marriage here so you can make way for them. Allah (swt) said "ankihu'l-ayaama minkum wa's-saliheena min `ibaadikum wa ima'ikum - Marry from among yourself." Don't look rich one or not, look for good character. That's what counts. Rizq comes from Allah (swt). Rasulullah (s) said, "an-nikaahu sunnatee - Marriage is from my way." We are now witnessing marriage of these two, and we need two witnesses. Look. Is she the right one? (laughter; Shaykh Hisham conducting the nikah.)

Fatihah. Time for hadrah!

*note the numeric congruence 12:53 and 53:12.
